420a maf???

my 95 talon n/a did not have a maf sensor, is there or was there a reason for this??? and whats the sole purpose of a maf sensor.....

It's not there because it doesn't have one. They use MAP sensors. A MAS reads airflow and dictates how much fuel for the injectors to use at a given airflow amount by sending a signal to the ECU. That's a total cliffnote by the way. There are other people who can and will go into greater detail.

Whereas MAP sensors use intake manifold pressure, engine RPM, and manifold temperature to get the airflow.

The MAP sensor on your 420a is located on the far end of the intake manifold, nearest the timing belt.

People have had limited success with Haltech, and eManage, but there will be very little support from us with one of those. The best option is MegaSquirt.

Best support sofar is MS 1 V3 for the 420a but the MS 2 have better injector control also IAC control, but is a little newer. My car has been down for 8 months so I havent had much contact with the MS groups so I am sure there are newer codes out but last time she run I used HiRes10d and g maybe.

The MS2/Extra code has advanced in leaps and bounds over the past year or so. Support for the 420A is now perfectly stable. As you suggested, MS-II offers such features as stepper-type IAC control and higher injector precision. A newer firmware variant even offers full sequential injection.

Great to hear that Velocita thanks for the advice. I think I might have to upgrade mine to MS 2 once I get her going again.
