Resolved 420A Axle replacement

So I bought new axles for my 2g 420a however the new axle looks different from the old one. It has teeth at the knuckle end of the axle. My question is is it still compatible? I would rather not rewait shipping times if unnecessary. Also if anyone has any idea on what those teeth do I would like to know.

It’s an ABS ring. You can use an ABS axle on a car without ABS, but you can’t/shouldn’t do the opposite.

Yupp abs tone ring. FWIW physically you can use a non abs axle in an abs car but your abs light will illuminate and be non functioning for the most part.

So if you care about abs, your car has it and it’s functionally properly it’s best to match with the appropriate axle.

Thanks to all! Mine is a non-ABS version so this should be fine. I was worried that those teeth would grind against something they shouldn't

You can remove the ABS rings if you'd like. It's unnecessary effort but I removed them for correctness. Hammer and flathead screwdriver knocked them off. They make a good shelf decoration anyway.
