Picked up a 95 Talon Esi Auto (bone stock) with 120k for $250.00 to DD while the EVO stays in the garage. It sat outside an apartment complex not driven for 3 months, I just gave it a fresh tank of premium v-power. For the most part, its a great little car, but Im having some strange problems every now and then.

It doesnt have an erratic idle, and it cranks great. Fresh battery, plugs, wires, oil. No issues with timing. It seems to me it must be electrical or maybe fuel related.

Issues Im having...

>) The check engine light is on and I am getting a IAT Sensor High/Low Voltage code
>) Start the car, and then it just dies. Then I crank again and it starts right up.
>) Ill be driving and the car will just shutoff
>) If i let the car idle for awhile in park, sometimes it just shuts off.
>) If the engine is cold and I put it into Drive the car bogs and usually dies, however reverse works fine while cold. Both work great when warmed up.
>) VERY SLOW acceleration
>) BAD Gas mileage
>) Sometimes the CEL will go off and back on
>) Anti-Lock brake light is on
>) Sometimes the car will stay in for example third gear, and othertimes it shifts flawlessly
>) Has a big exhuast leak at the muffler, not sure if that is playing into any of the issues

Sometimes the car starts, runs, and drives great tho. Very puzzling.

Could this be ECU related? Wiring problem? Sensor?

Um that premium is not needed in that car. Check on the throttle body and clean all deposits and clean all sensors on the intake manifold, not like theres much.

took the TB off, and both the sensors attached. Cleaned everything and the CEL has gone away. Most of the issues seem to be gone. Some of the wires going to the IAC sensor were melting, so I ran new wires.

other issues...

When i accelerate hard Im getting what seems to be fuel cut or something similar at higher rpms. Like a bucking hesitation. Should I gap the plugs wider?
