- Front Lower Control Arms(Ball Joints)
- 3" Catback Exhaust -
- Cluster Gauge Pod

- Turbosmart Plumback BOV
- Turbosmart MBC

- Two-way pager alarm

these are the mods already done. so please i would appreciate you guys giving me some set up ideas and ideally how much hp i can make out of it. thanks guys i appreciate all the help! nice to join the group =):hellyeah:

A DD is one of the most important things to buy if you have a DSM.

Make sure you have all of the maintenance up to date before you start modding.

hey sorry im a newb to dsm LOL, whats a dd? also im going a full tune up on the car Monday. i just want like a list or a set up i can use for some good power. thanks man.

Take your time and learn/read what you need to meet your goals. As a matter of fact take your time to learn what your goals are.LOL That's alot of cash to spend on one of these cars and it can go a long way, so take your time and make good decisions. READ, READ, and READ some more. Good luck and welcome to a whole new realm.:hellyeah:

P.S. A dd is a daily driven car (aka daily driver)

thanks brother =) i have been reading alot, i was just looking for someone to point me in the right way. i can spend close to 5 grand on this thing i was just hoping someone would have a setup idea for me. like a turbo should i do anything to the motor internals, etc. thanks.

I would be looking at an evo3 16g turbo for the money/performance as well as fuel system supporting mods like fuel pump and injectors and a way to tune it like dsm link. Take your time and do it right.

Is this your only car? If it is, and your really really serious about making the DSM a real beast, perhaps you should take about 2000 of your budget and buy another small, stock, dependable, (unmodified) car. That way when your DSM decides to take a vacation, you dont have to take the bus. :D

That would still leave you over 2500 for DSMlink and a 16G. (in that order, learn how to use link BEFORE just bolting on a bigger turbo).

Just my 2 cents...do with it what you wish.

thanks are the links here to learn how to use dsm link? i was thinking about cams, 16g turbo or 20 g, big intercooler, injectors, fuel pump, and maby even getting the block done up. how much do you think this setup would get me in power? also i do have another car, but i dont want to mod the talon if it will just break on me. i know alot of people say if there built right they will last. so i wanna build this bad boy up right =)

Dude thats awesome. I love that saying.

To the OP just make sure you take your time. Since you have the money i would go ahead and do both rods and pistons while your at it. Maybe even a stroker. Your sinkin that much into it make sure you do it all right. Just do alot of reading and studying. Is it a awd or fwd? As long as you do everything right and have a good tune on the car it will be very dependable.

If you have another car already, then you are good to go. The only reason I suggest this, is because unless everything "downstream" from the power is in tip top shape, it will break. That's why everyone is telling you to do your maintnence first. The problem is it's always the weakest link that will break, something you didn't think about until its broken, then you replace it and something else further downstream will give out. This could be anything from old hoses, to clamps, to a worn clutch that doesn't like 350 whp, or your tranny. These cars are not young. If your serious about it, and do it right, it will treat you right. But you gotta be prepared for 10+ year old parts to give out.

Can it be reliable and be built? Yes of course it can. But all the parts have to be able to hold up to what you create. And there will always be something that isn't quite up to snuff...until you have spent well over your 4200.00 to replace everything. Then its all new and she runs like a dream.

Hence EXTRA CAR > BUS RIDE... because the money isn't always there to get something fixed right away.

Get a 6 bolt block, possibly rods/pistons. Get a 2g head machined to match, put some 264/264s in there. Big evo3 16g. 255, afpr, 650cc injectors, FMIC, Apexi downpipe, MBC, and dsmlink to tune and just keep the boost down and you have a quick DD that shouldn't break on you as long as you don't beat it.

how do i get a 6 bolt block? if i end up getting that i will put rods and pistons in it np. is it jdm. there is a jdm shop around the corner they told me they have a evo motor in stock for 1500 same as the talon motor ? or is it different? thanks. also whats a MBC and AFPR? thanks man.

Six bolt motors can be found, but will require some other accomodations to make it work.(more time researching and planning) An evo motor is different than a talon motor.
mbc = manual boost controller
afpr = adjustable fuel pressure regulator

Like I originally said, reading and researching are going to be your best friends. Don't get ahead of yourself and become baffled by bullshit.:nono:

If your engine is ok shape, you can get your car to about 350 whp with about 1500. Here's a link from dsmtalk that I'm using as my "bible" for modding. Its costing me about 1000 for parts and machining to rebuild my engine. That's for a stock rebuild. So with 4200, you should be fine to build it to what you want without going crazy. But you have to do proper maintenance before anything else.
