Not including regular maintenance, timing belt and fluids are being replaced as a separate expense, this is totaly an upgrades expense. I know I need a boost guage but other then that can't really decide.

ebay intake and boost controller gauge combo. that should land your right around 150

I was curious about this, do those ebay intakes come with a filter? do they bolt up to the MAS?

I suppose I should probably go searching for them :rocks:

Nice, is that intake decent enough? Seems like a pretty amazing price, would obviously need a new filter no?

Prosport Mechanical Boost Gauge was looking at that boost gauge since I need to order some gauge pods and headlight bulbs from them anyway would save on shipping, are prosport any good?

And yea I am calling junkyards left and right for a 1g BOV, need to find an adapter for it though no?

when i first got my car it had the intake and boost controller and would only run like 13-14psi, i installed a new bov and it jumped up to 25psi on my t25! the old owner cranked it up trying to get y more out of it but the bov was crap, so it is a definite necessity

the intake will be a large improvement over stock, and the filter is included with that package! Also prosport is good, anything will be good for now, as long as it is fairly accurate, no need to go with an aem tru boost right away haha

So the list so far is

Boost gauge
2 pod a pillar gauge pod
NXS boost controller
Ebay intake
1g BOV (hopefully I can find one :hellyeah:)

Hmm. Probabl should save up for exhaust next.

yup thats a good list, next for exhaust look at the ssautochrome 3 inch turbo back exhaust, this comes with a new downpipe and full catback, 3 inch straight through with no cat! its only 475 dollars shipped so a very good deal

Ebay intakes are sometimes made at the same factory and are the same intake as major brands you just have to look around and research.

For instance if you want an expensive Kevlar Gates timing belt you can buy a PCI one since Gates makes their products. It saves you like 35 bucks for the belt and for a whole kit anywhere from 60-125 bucks.

Some times those ebay "knock off" brands aren't knock offs but the same product with out the brand name. If you want to spend less money and get more for it just google search the crap out of whatever you want and see if there is a generic version of it.

Parts are like medicine... except you don't have someone readily available to tell you if there is a generic or not.

Everyone has posted decent first mods, but I'd go the other way. Go with a datalogger so you can actually have an idea of how the engine is running, then you can turn up the boost with piece of mind.
You can make your own boost controller for a fraction of the price anyway.

I could sell you my ebay intake kit for $50 shipped. Its brand new, i never used it. Save $6 and help a fellow dsmer out :)

hmm... it's interesting that everyone is saying boost gauge, controller etc...

If you have a stock intercooler (I don't see othewise in your profile) I would look for hard pipes and a 1g BOV. And pull the resistor in the boost soleniod. That should give you like 2 extra pounds of boost. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, the boost gauge and controller will do nothing for you with stock rubber pipes because of the guaranteed boost leak you'll be getting...

just my $0.02

btw- I have a new prosport boost gauge too...

I dont know why people recommend boost controller so early. I bought my hallman pro and Ive been through 3-4 more upgrades and its still sitting on its lowest setting.
Installing my ecmlink and gm maf setup today and the hallman is still gonna sit all the way down. Boost creep for the win.

Id get an intake/ bov/ and boost gauge if I was in your shoes.

stock boost on a 2g is like 12 or so i believe, a boost controller can allow you to turn that boost up to 16 on the t25 which is a pretty decent difference from stock, the t25 doesnt creep as i remember but i could be wrong

Isn't the stock IC system going to leak like crazy though? especially before getting a 1g bov? (considering as I understand, I need to upgrade my IC piping to use a 1g bov on a 2g anyway)? :hmm:

The t25 creeps just a bit but settles back down pretty fast, and 475 for an exhaust system???? Buy and ebay downpipe and then get you local muffler shop to custom make you a 3" straight pipe all the way back, mine only cost me $99, and if you wanna muffler you can buy one and have them put it on.

the uicp is not the culprit in the leaking, once you just replace the bov with any other aftermarket unit the problem will be fixed, i upgraded to a ngr type s (upgraded greddy type s) Then i got the cool sound, and to my amazement i actually made more boost!

I think the 1g bov is a direct swap? And upgrading your ic pipng would be good seeing how big of a difference in size stock is over after market, but not exactly neccesary right now, itl do just fine for intake, exhaust, boost controller. And the only thing that leaks is the 2g bov.

^^^^^well bsbllfit7 beat me to it :thumb:

negative.

1G bov is not a direct bolt-on for the 2g stock ic piping, you need an adapter. Or just get some hard piping flanged for the 1g bov.

i would honestly buy the boost controller gauges and wait for the exhaust, or maybe also get a walbro or evo 9 if you can afford it just set yourself up for greatness. Don't forget the boost leak test
