looking to find out the best way to launch my gsx.... ex. what rpm range, dump clutch or ease out? stuff like that

:dsm:

That really depends on your tire/surface combo...

Stock car w/slicks on a well prepped track you could launch @5K or more...

400HP w/bald tires on the street in the rain... you could spin the tires with a 2K drop...

you need to know your tires limitations, and you will need to know the surface you are on... but if you are looking to practice launching... start at 3K with a little feathering and work from there... when you get all four to chirp slightly with no bogging after you catch traction, you know you have it down. (P.S. on a 1G this is uasully when you find out that a good launch will turn on your windshield wipers... :thumb: )

That is good tires, 1G, good surface...

5K clutch drop in the Seattle rain, with all season tires... not such a good idea...

I hope you are starting to see what I was saying... ask 100 different people, and they will give you as many different answers as there are surface/tire/HP/RPM combos... just expriment until you figure out what works for you...;)

thnx guys i usually launch between 5-65k every now and then i bog out but i have had some good ones. i guess i'll keep on practicing thnx again guys :dsm:

Witthout my downpipe I was launching at 4500 and just dumping the clutch...works fine...instant 2 car advantage.

Now that I've got my downpipe it seems like I only need to launch at 3500..I don't know why but it is just as strong at 3500 as it was in 4500 I assume its because the turbo spools faster now.

i bounch my revs from 4.5k to 6.5k and try and ketch it at about 5.5k. when i go to ketch it i slip the clutch pretty face so your not riding the clutch but yet at the same time your not dumping it. works great for me

p.s. i bouch the revs to get my turbo spooled off the line

why would the wipers come on?

When you REALLY launch an AWD 1G the whole "an object at rest tends to stay at rest" law comes into effect. The car lurches forward so fast that it overcomes the weak latch on the wipers and the wiper control handle drops... it really will scare the crap out of you the first time it happens...

it is when you dont give it enough gas or slip the clutch to fast and your car drops back down instead of keeping a steady launch. its almost like stalling in a way

Ahhh I got ya! I can see how that will limit your time on the strip. So its gotta be pretty freakin precise to nail in between shifts then.:thumb:
