I cant get traction in my 98 GST, and i am obviously not the only person out there either. What are the best ways to gain traction? i know that the LSD is good because it will get rid of the one wheel peel, but they are kind of expensive. Are they hard to install though??? The next obvious upgrade would be tires. I am assuming that the drag radials offered by Nitto, BF Goodrich etc have excellent hook up, but i dont want to get them and either have the tread where off in 1 month, or get caught in the rain and be screwed. Is there any tips or advice to how i can get better traction, a cheaper way i can get both tires to spin, or what street tires are good for the 1/4 mile, but yet still hold up decent in rain?

I kind of the like the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, Bridgestone Potenza S-02, Yokohama AVS sport, BF Goodrich g-force T/A KD, BF Goodrich g-force drag radial, Kuhmo Ecsta MX XRP, Yokohama ADVAN AO32R, Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R, and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar, just to name a few of the tires i am interested in and if anybody has had any experience with any of these tires.

Driving has more to do with it than anything. With your mod list you should be able to keep traction even in 1st gear. I could catch in 2nd with mine at a little over 400fwhp before the LSD. Learning to feather the throttle will make a big difference and slipping the clutch at low RPM instead of dumping at high will also net a lot better time's. Other than that, tire's would be a first upgrade and I would recommend getting an SBR clutch and getting there LSD insert. Holds up very well and easy install.

I understand about the driving part, but one i get going, and i punch it and the turbo kicks in i start spinning. I mean...i start of slow, but if i try to go faster i just spin in 1st and 2nd gear, even if i take it easy at the beggining of the gear. Yes, i could "feather" it alittle bit, but what good does the power do me if i cant use it 100%? I want to be able to push my car hard, and not spin too much.(obviously i wont punch it off the start, but once i get going, i wanna go). Do you see what i am saying? And why is SBR's LSD so much cheaper than others??? its almost 1/8 the price? Also, how hard would it be to put this in? sorry for being so complicated!

Yes, you could feather it, and you should, you want 100% efficiency, not 100% power, that just gets you to spin the tires, and bad launches. You should get some Eagle F1 Supercar tires, they are badass, stock on the new vettes, and they have rediculous traction, at least on the C6 vettes, even with the RWD 400hp, fast as hell. You have to learn how to drive your car, get used to lightening up on the pedal when boost hits, ESPECIALLY in 1st and 2nd.

EDIT: Read this, the SBR LSD's are inserts, and of course, you shouldnt expect what you would out of a true LSD like a Qualife, but for the price, their performace seems to be damn good for $200, and worth it.

The sbr insert is cheap because it doesn't have the same amount of time and engineering into it. I'm not saying it doesn't work. I have no idea if it does or not. It just doesnt have the engineering of a Quaife or a Kaaz, that's why it's cheaper.

For traction:Tires(slicks), LSD, poly engine mounts, and suspension. Not neccesarily in that order

i installed sbr lsd over the weekend. I am running stock turbo and no longer have torque steer and overall traction has been improved. U turns are fun now.

try letting out some air in your tires whether it be the ones he posted or not that will help alot in hooking up.. when i went to the track for the first time i wasnt happy with the traction i was getting and someone came up to me that seen my take off and he let out some air in my tires..i think he left like 12-18psi in each tire and my take off was better...just a stupid but yet simple way to hook up a "little" better on the street without shelling out big bucks for drag tires
