My best friends parents once had a 95 Eagle Vision. I remember he beat the shit out of that thing when he got his license. The only really bad thing I can remember about it was the steering wheel is offset from the drivers seat. Weirdest thing ever.

I think it would be 1000 times easier to just sell your eclipse and graft the eclipse front and rear onto a stratus or something. I was just joking in my first post with that limo pic...I didnt think anyone would actually take that seriously haha. Its 10 times easier to make a 4 door into a 2 door...Its NOT quite as easy to go from a 2 door to a 4 door without the proper body structure.

The more I read this post the more it kind of interested me. Hot rodders have been cutting cars up sense the had 4 wheels (and even the funny looking cars with three wheels...). The biggest difference that I can think of off the top of my head is that all of those cars had frame rails. We are uni-body, no solid beams to shorten/lengthen and then re-support.

If it was me, I would think about the frame of a Mighty Max, then stretch the shell of an eclipse, and have a 4 door with a front mounted 4G63 and rear drive. Just an idea to throw around, I think its a crazy, but still kinda different.
For everyone saying get an evo, a vision, and all those other cars, that isn't the same as owning an eclipse (4 door or not). Just about anyone can graft a clip on the front and back, just look at all the escalade conversions...
Good luck!

Yeah that sounds like it would look awesome haha...he'll end up with one of these. Either way you slice it...a 4 door Eclipse is still going to look like a stretch limo eclipse.

I used to own a 3 door Saturn SC2 and thought it was a great idea. I can see this being something actually useful. You would need to brace the frame along the roof and floor. In my old SC2, it was perfect for sliding something in to the back seat or a drunken friend.

I dont believe that is a 2dr evo. Its probably a proton 2dr with an evo clip on it.

+1 I'm pretty sure it's already been done too.

Why are comparing this concept to the concept of hot rods? Hot rods have one important key element that DSM's do not... FRAMES.

I'd say if the chassis and body are separate from each other then give it a try. You can't weaken a frame on a car that has its own frame just by stretching the body out. Unibody won't accept change very well. Basically you get what you get and to change it would require tons of research, trial and error (you don't think they just punch a design into a computer, make one car, and that's it do you?), and crazy fab work. Hot rodders were able to do it because the cars weren't unibody. The structural integrity of the car didn't rely on the body. I even get wary of when people weld new front clips on. Who cares about DOT certification. What does that even mean? It's not like he's going to mass produce this... You say people can't talk about street racing and it's not 100% because it's illegal, it's because it's dangerous. To delete people's posts saying this isn't safe and entertaining the idea of the OP attempting this to putt his family around is just dangerous. Yes it's most probable that it will never even be attempted, too.

There was a thread about this on Dsmtalk I'm pretty sure. Someone did the saturn idea(photochop) on a 2gb black eclipse. It looked amazing. It was like the rx-8 it actually went really well.

I tried...

I dont wanna be a hater but i dont go onto a honda forum and ask them how do you make a honda fast okay it just doesnt happen why would you come on here and ask how would a four door eclipse look or be made. Just get a four door civic and turbo it or a WRX. Im sorry it makes me wanna throw up in my mouth thinking about it. The new trend is four door sports cars one im not a fan of find something else.

Dont know if anyone mentioned this or not but if the welding two together thing doesnt work out and you're not into the Galant I'd suggest a 94-98 Hyundai Sonata. There is a 4 Cylinder 5speed for sale pretty close to me. I could get that information for you if you wish.

This website is called DsmTUNERS. Secondly...get rid of my "little sports car"? You are driving a N/T...hardly a sports car. Sorry bud.

Dont be naive, im sure you wont go through with the right steps and precautions to make this car safe and legal.

And no, duct take does not count as a tool or should not be used to put together your 4 door eclipse.

alright seriously why do people act so childish when someone asks a simple question such as photoshopping an eclipse with 4 doors? i mean if you dont like it then dont comment!
