This is probably stupid to most of you, but I want to know how my 4 cylinder can beat pretty much any v6. Like the mustang v6. Is it because of weight? Or are some manufacturers better than others? Or is it in the driver's skills as a driver? Is it possible for a basically stock 4 cylinder to beat a v8? Just want to know....

think ur 4banger will beat a twin turbo'd v6 supra?

Not sure, being that there has never been a V6 Supra made :p . Supra's are inline 6's just FYI. And someone meantioned what a good V6 powerplant is? Hows about the newer 3.5L Nissan engines like meantioned before? The 350Z isnt exactly a slosh off the showroom floor. Hell, even the top model 04+ Maxima's use the same powerplant and got some balls to them.

No one has even meantioned the M-series BMW's yet. However, DSM's are just to easy to make fast and will most likely weigh less than the V6 counterpart.

I have an 87 supra turbo.. anyways.. displacement isn't the only thing in the formula for making power... first of all.. the 4 cyl will rev higher and faster most of the time.. depending on the bore x stroke.. large motors can lack power due to poor head designs, that hinder flow.. what's the point of having a big motor when you can't get alot of air in there?

Theres a guy name Jim around here who has a dad that has an Altima (or Max, not sure) but that engine and auto trans and runs 12s with 150 shot I believe. Nothing much else either.

It's a Maxima, he runs 13.5 N/A and 12.1 with a 150hp shot. Were working out the bugs now and gonna hopefully get it down to 11's this year with the same 150hp shot.

BTW, a Supra isn't a V6 it's an inline 6

Yea thats it. Sorry for the mix up. What are his plans with the car? Seems like hes taken that thing to make awesome times for not much money. What's so interesting about that car and its potential is that your dad's running great times with an AUTO trans!

Auto trans in a family car with minor mods and goes as fast as me. Thats what kills me. Acctually it took me a long time to catch up to his times.

used to have a cherokee, 4.0 I6, i beat a stock mustang lx 4 banger... that was funny seeing as how my jeep was on 32's.....Jeep did make a limited edition Grand Cherokee 5.9L v8 in 1998 only....my friend craig has one, and it hauls balls.....it'll roast my n/t, dunno bout you turbo guys

hmmm now as i recall the early 90's cherokees with the v6 high outputs could do a high 14 quater mile... thats what i recall from a year or so ago so idk. all i know is driving my dads 90 cherokee sport with the inline 6 and auto tranny ill get beat by a school bus from a dead stop and in power 4x4 mode

NEVER race a jeep in 4x4 unless its raining or snowing...hell dont even drive it in 4x4 period unless off road or some sort of inclement weather...good god the things that will do to your poor driveline (unless you have selec trac, but i doubt you do so dont drive on dry pavement in 4x4)--and all that power button does is change the shifting points of your transmission, gives it a little more agressive and responsive shifting, but thats it

im almost positive the rb26 is I6 but if it in fact IS v6, then top secret has a v6 supra. They did it for no reason other than to be different.

I own a 90 NA 300ZX and its pretty quick for a v6 but no where near the VG30DETT

I traded my 92 taurus for a 92 tsi talon w/ a bad block and am hoping to make it quite fast .......

The V6 Mustangs are just all around slow so you can't compare those cars to a 4-cylinder. Even the 5-speed V-6 Mustangs are slow mainly because of there weight. My close to stock non-turbo Eclipse walks all over them. :thumb:
