Well, this is a weird one for me I don't know if it's a turbo (dsm) motor thing or just mine. Anyway, long story short, at highway speeds and while cruising steady speeds cylinder 4 spark plug and injector just stops sparking/injecting until I restart the car, this also happens if I granny shift around town.
I've checked spark when this happens and sure enough 4 is dead and so is the injector, if I turn the car off and restart it, plug/injector 4 sparks again but the ecu throws a random misfire dtc. If I run the car with the CEL light on it will do it again soon after but if I clear the code first, it'll run for awhile before doing it again.
DSMlink also confirms that injector 4 is dead during these times. On a sidenote, the front o2 sensor goes up to about .6-.7v and then some, which is showing me go rich just before #4 quits on me (even while I'm at a steady rpm and speed)which lead me to believe it to be my stock fpr. Am I right on this or do I need to look elsewhere first?

TIA,
John

Not really an update but...
Well, I've gotten some suggestions from another board about this and what was recommended was to swap out plugs 3+4 with each other (only the plugs) and run it then swap out the wires (plug swap still in place) and then run it. Next to swap out the 3+4 injectors (just the injectors) to see if cylinder 3 dies after running it. The car runs fine until this happens obviously and like I said, the o2 sensor starts to go up showing that I'm starting to run rich even though I'm running at a steady speed and flat interstate.
I will be ordering an AFPR also and whichever come first (my car or the AFPR) will determine if I do the above or just upgrade my FPR first.

Any troubleshooting suggestions from here? Or do you guys think I should do the above troubleshooting process just to eliminate the possibility of the items above possibly being bad anyway? Comments and suggestion appreciated.

Thanks,
John

What year car motor do you have? I have a 95 w/ 6 bolt swap and whenever it threw the random missfire code it shut down cylinder 3 for me. Now that I have dsmlink I tell it to not look for the code and it runs fine. I called RRE, Buschur, Magnus and they all told me Ive just got one of those funky cars with the 6 bolt swap(I guess some cars react a lot worse to the random missfire code). If you dont have a 2g w/ 6bolt this wont apply to you so just ignore me.

I have a 95 6 bolt also. I have dsmlink also, I take it you shut off the misfire code? I tried that too. I don't get a cel with the code turned off but I still get the cylinder shut down. It's kinda embarrassing when it does it too, it just sounds super loud with only 3 cylinders running/with no power/and a 3" turbo back

I've been reading about everything from everywhere and stumbled upon Magnus' site about the 1g CAS upgrade (I also have that) and how to rectify the misfire code it throws. It was also stated in DSMLink, however, I think that my CAS was wired to accept the reverse signal so that the plugs wouldn't have to be swapped around (plugs 1&4 WITH 2&3 are swapped for those that stumble on this thread later). I'll try it anyway.
