3rd gen mas in a 1st gen

does any one know if a 3rd gen mas/maf will work in a 1st gen.
any ifo would be great thanks
 
i bought a tubo from this kid. he has an intake for it with a 3rd gen maf. the car it came out of was a vr4 galant. he told me it would work so thats why i was asking before i buy it or if this has ever been done. what was the out come and does it work correctly.

A lot depends upon your HP goals. If you plan for ~400 HP at the wheels, the 2G or 3G will work great. I actually prefer the EVO 7/8 MAS, if you can get one cheap enough, as they are proven to flow well over 400 HP, and are built to a slightly better standard than the 3G, if I recall. They change less with temperature (more stable) and will flow to higher Hz before overrun, from what I've heard. There are EVO's that have made >500 HP with the stock MAS, not that I'd recommend it. The pressure drop across the MAS is so great at that flow that it ends up disfiguring the honeycombs.

If you're getting a 3g MAF, make sure it's from the 2004 Eclipse GTS. It must be the GTS, #482 MAS. It also came on the Montero.
