I've tried searching but it looks like I am the only person having this issue but I am trying to put a 3g wheel on my 2g (i know...some of you think its ugly...dont care) but I am having an issue with my turn signals not turning off after executing a turn with the 3g wheel. If i switch my 2g wheel back on the turn signals work perfect. With the 3g wheel, if i lightly put it on it works great. As soon as I tighten the nut it does not want to work. I am not cranking down on it or anything. I have tried taking measurements to verify the dimensions are the same on the hub, everything matches perfectly. I cannot figure it out :banghead:

Oh, got it. Have same issue with an aftermarket steering wheel because there is a "ring" of sorts that connects to steering wheel via three pins (in 1G, anyway) that turns lights off, and with non-factory wheel those pins were not engaging. Therefore the "ring" was not turning and was not turning off the lights.

Do you hear that clicking noise while turning? If not then you are having same type of issue.
Would you mind posting a picture of the back side of 2G and 3G steering wheels?

I'm hearing the "click" you are talking about. My wheel also has the same 3 pins. Both do and both are in the exact same spot. I noticed that the arm on the turn signal that hits the clockspring arm was not making contact with each other. I ended up extending that arm on the signal switch thinking the 3G wheel was sitting deeper than the 2g wheel. It did not help.

I will take a few pics to compare when I get a chance.

Just looked up both steering wheels on the internet, and they do seem close (if not identical) on the back. So instead of pictures of them, just snap one of the problem area. It's dark now, but i will go examine the switch mechanism tomorrow if noone suggests a solution by then.

I don't know what exactly the problem area is. I've swapped clocksprings and I've tried 2 different 3G wheels.

3G wheel sits further on the shaft than 2G, right?
If not, how much thicker is hub of 3G vs 2G wheel?
Does the 3G wheel sit flush with the "ring" of turn signal switch?

Got to thinking about it and remembered that if that "ring" is pushed in too far, the white "catch" (or "hook") that normally brings turn signal lever back to center will not be in same place on the ring, and will not function like it's supposed to.

I've measured and everything looks perfect and I even extended that arm that hits the clockspring. I'm pretty puzzled with this one since I haven't seen anyone else with this problem LOL.

Not to thread jack, but I have access to a 3g steering wheel and as much as I like it and as bad a shape as mine is in, I'm wondering what kind of issues ill run into, like I'm 6-3 so does the steering wheel cut down on my clearance and does swapping airbags put me into an unsafe spot? I like the 3g wheel better but would've never considered the swap if it wasn't free.

You'll be fine. I think the diameter is slightly smaller I believe and does not come out any further than the 2g wheel. It has a nicer grip/feel to it...to me at least.
