I have 8 3g lifters (I cant find the other 8). My question is, would it be fine to find out what lifters are making the ticking and switch them with the 3 g lifters?? So I would have 8 stock dsm lifters and 8 3g lifters in the head would that effect anything??

I hope you know that 3g refers to the DSMs 3rd revision of the lifters. You do not use the 2000+ eclipse lifters.

They are also known as revised lifters, 3g lifters, 3g revised lifters. All of the lifters are the same and can be be put in any hole for any cam lobe.

The ticking generally happens because not enough oil is present in the head where the lifters are at which causes the ticking. The revised lifters have a larger oil hole which helps allow more oil under the rocker where the lifter contacts it.

Oh yeah I understand that. I had all the lifters in my garage and when I sold some of my eclipse parts I think I grabbed some of the 3g lifters and gave them with the parts. So Im wondering if I can use some 3g lifters and keep so of the old lifters in the cam lobes too..

You won't have any issues as long as they are all cleaned out and work properly. The DSM lifters are all the same through out all years. The oiling hole on the top of the lifter is the only thing that changed. You may experience some ticking but perhaps you won't. I'd suggest getting another 8 from a vendor so you have less of a chance to tick.

It wont matter that the oil holes in the lifters are different sizes/ it wont hurt anything in the engine if I use 2 different ones?

I would suggest picking up eight more lifters from partsdinosaur.com.

He has a really good deal on the 3g revised lifters. I just changed out a set myself.

You should be able to get eight of them for right around $50 shipped.
