1G 3000gt vr4 brake upgrade....Favorite mod to date

It really surprises me that people claim to not be able to lock up the big brake upgrade. I thought you could lock up the stock 2 pistons? You think I would know considering I've owned two 1gs with 2-piston calipers but my first was over 10 years ago and I forget, and my current one only has a few miles on it. I may have to upgrade my calipers if this really is such a good upgrade.

TBH the MC upgrade is needed if you put the Evo Brembos alll on 4 corners. The MC doesn't move enough volume in a full stroke so you run out of pedal before you can lock them up at a decent speed.

I tried several times to lock them up with the OEM DSM 2g MC and I could do it at about 30kph....but once they got hot from a bunch of tires they wouldn't even do that.

The Brembo's are more volume than the stockers so an upp'd MC is mos def need to keep the same (ish) pedal travel.

The upp'd BB just makes it easier on my chicken legs. :D

I had pbr calipers with 1" master cylinder, no abs, and yellow stuff pads and it would be easy to lock up at 60 mph if get on the brakes quick. i think having less agressive pads would be better for the street. But I've used yellow stuff on other cars which worked perfect on the street.

Im a nurse and not a mechanical engineer however Id always assumed that braking performance is dictated by several factors. Brake type, size, size of rotors, material of rotor/pad, Size of Booster, Size of tire and tread and material and suspension geometry. My entire car is basically new, im running 17inch evo 8s with very good tires with a oem 4g booster. Im not saying I couldnt lock the tires up but ive slammed the pedal very hard and havent skid. The only time id probably be worried is in the wet.....But the car doesnt see water so that doesnt matter.
