I have a 2.5 inch hks carbon ti exhaust on my 1997 gst i was wondering what would be the best way to upgrade is it worth buying a hole new exhaust or should i just do a 3 inch down pipe with a qtp cut off switch.

What kinda gains will i be looking at with a qtp cut off i was thinking about it since cops around the area are asses about louder exhausts let me no what you guys think and what would be a better over all set up for street/track.

the best would be full turbo back with no cat or low restrict one 2.5 is ok for down pipe but the rest needs to be 3" . you will gain with turbo back about 15-35 hp . you could just take it to a local exhaust shop and have them fab up a exhaust system for proably $ 150-300. thats way cheaper than buying a name brand and then you can tell people yours is (CUSTOM) LOL

just buy your own muffler and have them do the piping and you are looking at around 300...besides when you go to a 3inch turbo back your tone will be lower and more suttle but when you get on it the sweet sound of DSM comes to live.:rocks:

I have a 3 inch down pipe into 2 1/2 cat back but removed the cat . the cat back was magnaflow. kinda loud but I really dont care. I see a cop I push the clutch in.
 
But woudnt the qtp 3 inch cut off do the same as a full straight exhaust just with out any of the restrictions.
