I just installed a Megan Racing downpipe and an apex n1 catback, and it is much quieter than i expected. This is a catless exhaust, and from what I had heard, it is supposed to be pretty loud. My exhaust note is very deep, but very quiet, when i am cruising at highway speeds i cant even hear it. My 1g with 3in exhaust on the other hand is almost obnoxiosly loud at all speeds. The only difference i can think of would be the turbo on each car. Although I kind of like it like this, is there any reason why it isnt any louder?

This might sound like a stupid question, but do you have the silencer on your N1 exhaust? Different psi of boost running on different cars?

The larger the exhaust housing the louder the exhaust and the quiter the external dump will be. The turbo acts as its own muffler so obviously a larger turbine housing would equal less restriction and also less sound dampening.

The silencer is out, but it almost sounds the same when it is in. I have a 16g on my other car, I realise it is a larger turbo, but would the t25 really dampen the sound that much?

think of it this way. bigger turbo=more air comming in, and when more air goes through the engine more exhaust (louder sound) will be your result.

Yes the differance between my 50 trim equiped car and my buddies .82 turbine housing gt30r is very noticable.

I have the exact setup as you, Megan 3" catless downpipe to 3" apexi N1 catback. Its quite loud when you step on it, but normal driving, it's pretty quiet. That's what I thought too until I had a friend drive the car away from me, not stepping on it. Its 10x louder from behind, I had no idea it was so loud. Maybe have someone drive your car around and listen to it, you'll be suprised. I still wish mine was louder inside, however.

I thought the same thing after installing my exhaust. I was like umm..Did I just put that on there? It sounded almost the same as the stocker at idle. On the top end it really sounded sweet. After having my neighborhood buzzing with ear killing fartcans, I was pleased with its quiet tone.

I honestly think the exhaust is making a difference as well. If you look down the piping on the A'PEXi N1, it seems to have resonators inside of it. Not saying that the smaller turbo doesn't dampen it as well, because that of course makes a lot of sense.

I'm still running a T-25, with a 3" downpipe to tip exhaust. There's no cat, no resonator, and no muffler. The damn car is obnoxiously loud. Which brings me to my next point.

Want to trade exhausts? :thumb:

The funny this is when I was swapping the exhaust i turned the car on to move it with an open 02 housing. It wasnt all that loud, Ive heard ricers with louder and raspier exhausts on their civics.

Hopefully a trustworthy friend:rolleyes:

If you want it louder just run an open down pipe... I dont know how long untill you get arrested....but that would be loud :D
