So i just got a megan racing 3 in. downpipe. "Would it be ok to just run the downpipe?". An maybe try to bolt a muffler on it or something. I am a cheap ass an dont wanna buy the cat back system.

Someone said something about the hot gases turning condensation to rust. I live in the northwest an there is always moisture in the air so can someone elaborate on how exhaust can cause rust?????

Exhaust gas is really hot, compared to the rest of the car and ambient temperature. In the northwest especially, I doubt you get many sweltering hot days. The areas exposed to high temperatures and then really cold temperatures are going to see a lot of condensation. Think of it sort of like turbocharging the oxidation process.

You could probably get away with it for quite some time, but it could cause issues in the long term. Southwesterners could probably get away with it for longer.

Now I'm going to know it's you when I hear a Honda behind me. Then beside me. And look over to see a DSM. :D

I currently have the oem exhaust on mine minus the cat. I have ghetto rigged a straight pipe onto the empty spot for now. I need to get a longer pipe cause I cut mine too short. The exhaust is loud, but nowhere even close to as loud as some cars and trucks around me. I'm not pulling a O2 code yet.
