my Stillen race pipe is 3" as far as i know. but it does eliminate the catalytic converter. but it is 2 bolt pattern to bolt up to the oem or aftermarket 2bolt 02 housing.

Never heard of a stillen downpipe for 2g eclipses, do you have a link?

Ok, I'll be the one to ask.

Why MUST you have a true 3" dp? Having the first section 2.5" shouldn't make any difference for you.

Our DPs have a 2 1/2" stainless steel first bend with a 2 1/2" stainless steel flex section. They then expand to 3" right after the flex section right under the oil pan area. Why start out at 2 1/2"? If you are running on the stock O2 sensor housing, even ported it is 2 1/2" inside diameter. When the exhaust gasses are hot, they flow better, 2 1/2" is plenty for the first 12". As the gasses cool , bigger helps. By going to 3" after the flex section, we allow this expansion and also allow for better clearance at the front where room is tight.

They are 2.5" at the o2 housing for about 2 inches if that then they go full 3.

You must be refering to the 2g gsx downpipe because my buddy has one, I have had the megan racing fwd 2g dowpipe and the now I have the apex-i unit neither one are like you described. If the 2g awd wil work with my fwd I will use that.
