So I started by baking the housings open and ended up looking at this

The I removed the reflector housing from the rear housing and cut a hole in it large enough to fit a pair of TSX projectors.

Gotta love that cutoff

Once I did that i created new mounting points on the reflector (So that i would retain the stock headlight adjustment bolts) and ended up with this

The it was back into the oven to bake the housing back shut resulting in...

Here it is installed

One problem with using the OEM housings is that the hardware used for mounting the projector is visible. I am working out what to use to hide it and will post a pic of that once I figure it out.

Props for having the guts to try this. I'm not trying to bash you or anything, but why is the cutoff so poor, and why is there what seems to be hot spots?

The cutoff is blurry for 3 reasons, my housing lenses are not as clear as I woould like them to be, the projector lens Im using isnt 100% clear (so I dot get that crisp cutoff) and the lens that I have on the projector if from an FX projector so it doesnt have quite the same qualities as a real tsx lens (the lens is a little too "tall" and throws off the projection.)
Hotspots are probably just from how I shot the picture, because in real life its a pretty even spread.
Thanks though

Wow very nice:thumb:... wish I could do that kinda work, but if I tried it id probably mess it upROFL.. So in your opinion is mounting a projector in a stock headlight better than just buying real HID bulbs and just installing them??

Of course. HIDs in the stock halogen projectors result in glare and no real "cutoff" per se.

Keep us updated on a way to hide the mounting hardware. I love what you did! I want to try eventually when I get some time and money too. Other than the two TSX projectors what other stuff did you need to buy?

EDIT:

Would something like this work to hide the hardware?

He is using factory HID projectors designed to use 'real' HID capsules. Worlds apart from cramming some cheaply made rebased hid capsule into a reflector housing designed for the output characteristics of a 55w halogen bulb.

I looked up TSX projectors on Ebay, are those like a cheap copy of the real Acura TSX projectors? Im actually thinking about doing that mod to mine, I really like how it turns out at the end.
