I have a 2g non-turbo 2.0 420a Eclipse i have changed out the wire harness and the ecu but I'm only getting 2 cylinders to fire.

Does anyone know if when you do a ecu swap if you need to reprogram it to the new car?

The SOHC 4G64 ECU used in the NA Spyders doesn't need to be programmed for the car. It doesn't have an immobilizer. There weren't any 2.4L Chrysler engine DSMs so if your talking about a non-Spyder 2GNT I wouldn't know about the 420A ECUs or any 2.4L swaps using one.

my bad i typed it wrong its a 420a 2.0

97 Eclipse 2.0 non turbo 420a automatic

Vehicle will intermittently fire on cylinders 2 & 3 and has no spark on cylinders 1 & 4. Fuel injector pulse on any cylinder is hit or miss as well. There's no consistancy in injector pulse.

- Have replaced camshaft position sensor twice 2 different brands of sensors no change
- Have replace camshaft position sensor pick up magnet at the end of the cam no change
- Have tried multiple brands of crankshaft position sensors no change
- All wiring has been checked & a donor harness has been swapped in with matching PCM from a 98 420a automatic Eclipse. 3 PCMs have been tried no change
- Timing is within 1 tooth or less as close as it can be
- All grounds cleaned
- Engine has great compression
- ASD relay has been tested checked good

The only thing I cannot physically verify is the pulse ring on crankshaft has not moved or broken. It feels secure but its in the back of the block on the bottom and I cannot visually check for damage accurately.

Have you tested or replaced the ignition coil? You can't expect consistent injector pulse on a misfiring engine.
Both coils have been replaced but I have noticed when I change the camshaft and crankshaft sensors that with some of the new ones I loose spark with all cylinders, so I'm not 100% but I may be fighting bad parts from the auto store

Not sure what you mean by "both" coils since there is only one. It is definitely possibly to get a bad sensor from the auto parts store but unlikely if it's more than 1.
