2g with 6bolt stalls out

I picked up a 2g from a guy in town. The car will start sometimes and idle fine and run fine. Then randomly it will just shut off. I try to start it and nothing. I've noticed though that when im cranking it the afc wont show any rpm movement. Shouldnt it be reading some sort of rpm, or is just cranking it not enough? Im leaning towards a cas. The car has a 6bolt swap with an eprom ecu. I already tried swapping ecus with no luck. New plug wires and the plugs are ok too. It throws a cel but i can't pull the code until i get a logger. The map sensor is also missing on the car. Any ideas? Am i on track to thinking its the cas? Whenever it stalls it just completely shuts off, rpms go to zero and the car dies.

update: i took the cas out.. (pretty easy no nuts were holding it down, just the tb bracket. Anyways.. i took it out and turned the key on.. spun it by hand and heard the injectors spraying.. (a fuel leak is there also) So i keep spinning and every 180 or so it sprays.. So good. I wait a minute and try it again.. nothing.. i turn the key on and off and try again.. nothing as i spin it.. i reset the ecu and try again.. nothing, no spraying no nothing.. so i try to start the car.. it wont start.. so im assuming it is a bad cas..

He could have also done a bad job re-wiring the cas for the 6bolt swap (loose connection)
