2g with 1g bov blow off problem

Okay, 2g TSI, only mods are K&N fipk, hallman boost controller, and dejon upper ic pipe with 1g bov (and boost gauge of course).
Question is, when I let off the gas, that blow off valve with make its chirp or "woosh" sound, but then is quickly followed by 2 more little chirps. The second 2 are much quieter, and almost sound like the fins of the turbo scraping the inside of the housing real quick (its a real quick squeak noise). It just annoys me to hear it after I go off the gas, and will do it no matter how hard I push the gas/how much boost I build.

I did a leak test, has a small leak in my lower IC pipe which I fixed, no difference.
Checked the turbo for shaft play and there is none at all.

Any idea of what these 2 extra squeaks from the BOV after the initial blow off of is appreciated.
 
Ha, helpers needs help sometimes as well. The infamous 1G bov squeak, I have the same thing but only one squeak. I asked the same question years ago and was told it's common on 1G bov. I would also like to know why as well, maybe some one can enlighten us.
 
I don't usually ask questions on here, used to just answering other people's. But this I really don't know about. It seems to me it's more of an annoyance than anything else. I just want to stop the extra chirping if possible LOL!
 
I filled out my vehicle profile but that doesn't help much since its for my 93 TSI ROFL

K&N FIPK
Dejon upper IC pipe with 1g bov
Hallman MBC - 12 PSI
Autometer Phantom 30-0-30 boost gauge

Those are the mods, running 12 psi right now.
 
technically thats when mine started too, since I put the bov on with a hard upper IC pipe.

I was thinking about taking the 1g bov off my 93 tsi and put that on the 2g, see if it makes the same noise or goes away. Worth a shot I guess.
 
I don't know what causes it, but I got mine to go away. I crushed mine a little bit by bit until the noise went away. It still does it a little bit when I am in high revs and deccelerating but that's it. It won't do it all the time anymore though.
 
Good ol 1g bov :)

I have 2 bov sitting in my future monster-in-law garage. It is a greddy Type S and the new Type RS ($100 and $150. $200 takes 'em both). :thumb:

Both are adjustable and will hold 25psi. :cool:

The 1g bov is not adjustable. I had a crushed 1g bov and would leak at 20 psi. :rocks:

What psi are you boostin?

Wow people are really having reading problems with this thread :D

I'm quite curious about this also, seeing that my 1g BOV doesn't sould much like a chirp, it's more of a dying giraffe and it scares children sometimes.

Also the idea of something being worn out in the BOV, sounds possible. The thing is, it didn't leak at all during my leak test, even at 20psi. Although maybe it doesn't close fast enough or something and lets extra air out/doesn't seal closed right away. I am also not too sure how the insides of a 1g bov work, so not really sure what could be causing it.
 
Well, we all know how the springs on your suspension can wear after a while. You compress a spring for long enough it'll start to stay in that position. They still work, just not as well as they used to right? Same thing with a BOV. Nothing lasts forever. The spring compresses and stays. Not enough to be bad, but enough to chirp. That's my theory at least. If I had my hands on one I would cut it open and cut open one that doesn't work and compare springs (I know, destroying valued property :notgood: ) But I have a feeling that's exactly what happens.
 
Ok, I have to add my little story to this thread. My case sounds a little different than what you guys have said though. My noise dosn't happen right after the normal purge. Mine happens at certain times (like around 18 vac, part throttle, ~20 mph). And the messed up thing is I can keep it going once it starts for as long as I want (a little difficult though, gotta keep the throttle and momentum of the car steady). I've done it up to 20 seconds. Doesn't sound anything like the purge noise. Sounds just like a very annoying *ringing*.

I also asked about it once on another forum and was told "it's normal" and that it's probably like a read in the wind, when a certain amount of air (vac) blows across it. REAL annoying though, happens every couple seconds when I'm behind someone having to go a constant low speed. Someone help! :cry:

Mods: 1g bov, uicp, greddy foam filter, intake, boost gauge, ~15 psi

Edit: Forgot to ask, can anyone tell me how to turn the top of the 1g bov to the right so that the vaccum line doesn't have to streach so far?
