2G Wiring Junkies, What Does the MB543648 Relay Control?

Hey, Fellow DSMers, I'm trying track down a wiring problem and hoping someone can tell me what the relay MB543648 located in the center console is for? It has 2 rows with total of 8 pins on the connection. This is on a 97 Eclipse GST. Also I'm wanting to know how I can test this relay.. ( Napa Quoted me 75.00 for this baby) YIKES...

According to CAPS it's the power seat belt relay.

Hey, Thanks for your repsonse.. I acutally searched earlier and found that same website.. and it only shows it for 90-94.. Obviosly mitsubishi used them on 97s or 95-99 GST GSX at least as this was located in my car and its never been touched. Thanks, Larry



The 97s dont have powerseat belts. and also i thought maybe it was power windows and locks relay but they still worked with the relay taken out.. which leads me believe that the usage of it on 90-94 was different then 2nd gen. Thanks for your inputs again..

If it's the one left of the starter relay, it's the door lock power relay 1 (left side). It's complicated to test - pm me if you really want to, or just swap it with the other one (right side) behind the rear seat left side panel.

llok guys i have the mb543648 12v relay in my HAND RIGHT NOW and i know what im talking about. i just took it out off my 1995 mitsubishi eclipse gst/gsx
the function of this relay is for the power to the injectors if this fuse blown your car will sound like it does not have gas but the reason is because the injectors are not shooting gas. next to that injector relay is the fuel pump relay which is the mb398020 .

Well, I have a manual and like (DSM Wiseman) says, it shows that it is a door lack power relay, just swap it with the other one (right side) behind the rear seat left side panel. and it will be it,
If you really want to figure it out just take it off, turn the engine on and see what it does, If it is not a door lack relay then I guess that you will see wright away what it is for.
