I am putting my motor back together, it is in the car, but I am getting spark on 2 & 3. I checked out the Cam sensor and crank sensor, each has a good ground and a good +12v

While cranking, I get pulses on the BLACK plug signal wire.
Not cranking, I get 0v on the BLACK plug signal wire.

While cranking & not cranking, I get a steady 4.5 volts on the GRAY plug signal wire.
I am 99.9% sure I should be getting pulses on it while cranking.

Now, both plugs are going into the timing belt cover. Can someone tell me which has the gray plug and which has the black plug?

If it IS the cam sensor, is it possible to put the 1g CAS in the covered spot on the other side of the head and just forget about these guys? (with proper wiring of course) or do I need a special head to do that?

I am trying to avoid taking the timing belt off again. :dsm:

Actually, both the cam and crank sensor are coming out of the same hole in the timing belt cover (not a mistake, there was a reason behind it)

If someone could at least tell me if the grey one comes out at the top or the bottom of the timing belt cover that would be good.

I would still like to know if the grey plug goes to the cam sensor or the crank sensor though.

Man, I miss distributors. None of this: computer says "I think I will only give spark to 2 cyls" crap.

Can you give me more info. on the car are you putting a 1g engine in your eclipse or just rebuilding the 2g. If you are doing the a 1g swap then you will need a 1g CAS to bolt to your cylinder head. Then what you would need to do is solder your cam sensor wires and crank sensor wires together because the cam sensor will control the signal of both.

Well, I ended up just doing the CAS conversion, but I am still curious. I figured it out because i wouldnt get 4 sparks with the signal wires one way to the CAS, so I swapped them to the other way and I got 4 sparks. 2G engine, 2G head..... just rebuilt it.

just an FYI, the new CAS has 4 wires, ground, +12, crank signal, and cam signal. Wire the + and - respectively and run the other two to the old crank and cam sensor plugs. I'll post the colors of each wire tonight just so anyone who wants to know in the future knows. Then there is a little ECU wire swapping too, all that stuff is in the VFAQ except the colors of the cam and crank sensor wires.
