hey just to make sure i searched but its hard to find the answer all the turbo manifolds on all the 4g63 motors are the same right

The 2g manifold is a bit bigger and flows better than the 1g. The 1g is prone to serious cracking...the 2g is less prone. The Evo III is the best manifold you could buy.

The 2g is NOT a direct fit though. When you go to slide it onto the studs, you will notice that on the right side, the very corner hits against some metal on the engine. You have to take a grinder and grind some of the metal off of the corner. Not a whole lot, but you do have to grind it down. Unless it's already been done for you when you buy the mani.

Nice... I had no idea. :thumb::thumb: Guess I should stick with what I know... breaking 2Gs.

LOL....I only know because I ran into this problem when installing my Evo III manifold. Then I told my friend about it (who is also a DSM nut) and he said he had to do the same thing to his 2g manifold. I had several other 2g manifolds laying around and tried test fitting those and they all had the same problem.

So putting a 2g mani or Evo 3 mani on a 6 bolt has a tiny clearance issue on the right corner...just needs to be ground down a bit with an angle grinder. For your future reference, in case anybody asks ;)

Both of our cars were 1990 and 1991 6 bolts, AWD. The first manifold I was putting on was an Evo III and it needed to be ground down. His was from a 95 2g AWD, and the other I tried was from a 96 2g FWD. All needed to be ground down. I was searching last night and found a few threads talking about needing to grind the corner down as well...let me see if I can find them again.

I saw some threads on it too, before I bought my manifold I did some research to be prepared. I was ready to grind away on the right corner, nearest the timing belt I believe, and was pleasantly surprised when I didn't need to.

Did you guys have the timing plate on the car? It could be that you had no timing plate so the manifolds fit perfectly? Not sure...

Alright i was reading the thread and the opinions of othere an im just wondering if a 1g n/t mani would work i mean im sure im going to have to tap for a vaccum line to my BOV. but isn't the 1g nt runners shorter? can someone please give me some feed

What?!??! A non-turbo manifold will NOT work with a turbo. It has no place for the turbo to bolt up.

sorry i meant to say the intake mani. no the exhaust mani. I mean when guys turbo n/t intakes dont they just tap one of the intake runners for the bov line?

Sorry guys im just in need of a mani mine is cracked in the one spot by the BISS screw so i JB welded that as a temp LOL. And not i got a constant hissing when i do the intake leak test but inducing pressure on the intake. it doesn't hold the air it's gone in seconds i can see it's taking in air somewhere down by one of the runners but i dont know quite where i was thinking it could be the internals throttle body seals. So if and the case when i replace the seals and that is not the case my next move is to do the intake. one reason why i suggested the n/t intake mani was because it has room for the erg value and the coil pack. so it would look pretty clean. So anyone have any opionion as to what im trying to do. input would be greatly Appreciated

what do u guys figure a 1g n/t intake is cable of supporting horse power wise. I mean im think that using this manny with give me more top in power?

alright thanks guys. If and when down the road i rebuild and up grade. I should probably not use that mani ? maybe just upgrade to a 2g as what this fourm is all about

No. If and when the time comes that you need a new manifold, get a SMIM from JM Fab or one of the others like Magnus. Don't fiddle around with OEM.
