got a 95 tsi, timing jumped, i have no idea why, but i took the head off, and all the intake valves are bent and stuck open, then i looked at the pistons, and all the pistons have gashes in them from the intake valves, there is nothing wrong with the cylinder walls, still nice and smothe, what do you guys suggest is my best bet to do in a situation like this? will this have a significant effect on the compression? thanks

Not sure what to do with the pistons but i dont think its a good idea to just put it back together as is.

How deep are the gashes? I would replace all the intake valve in the head and depending on how bad the pistons are either leave them the way they are or replace them. Hopefully you will be able to just leave them alone.

Take pictures of the pistons and post them and im sure people can tell you if the damage is minimal or if you will need new pistons.

i had the same shit happen to me. except i have a sweet 16 valve pile-up. just replace the valves and valve guides.then for the pistons, as long as you didnt cause too much damage, little imperfections arent a big deal. clean up all the carbon and scrub it down nice and clean. you;ll be good to go!

just make sure the piston rings still float. you should be able to wiggle the piston in the bore a little bit. if ya can your good to go.

yea the gashes are not too bad, and i am trying not to do up piostons and rods due to cash flow, i will attach a pic of the pistons tomorrow, if i can just swap a head that would be awsome, the cylinder walls are still extramly smoothe, so i'll fins out what you think after the pics, thanks alot, good advice :thumb:
