Im having serious trouble with my wiring, first of all i just want to ask. Are there two connectors that you take wires from or only one?

Now onto this, my dash lights, heater knob etc.... and the lights on my rear view mirro do not work anymore, I heard its common when idiots like me try to wire there stereo in. What fuses would those be and what box are they in?

Ok well I found a diagram.

constant+ 12v red/black
switched 12v+ blue
illumination green/white
dimmer black/yellow
antenna trigger white/black
left front+black/white
left front- black
right front+black?white
right front- black

ok ill stop there cause thats my problem, where are the black and white ones? are those on the other connector, cause i cant find the other connector in there. Can anyone give me maybe a better diagram or tell me a what alpines wires are.

You don't have a monsoon system in your car do you? If you do then you are in for a treat trying to get a radio in. If you have a premium factory stereo system then you probably have an amp to bypass first. Make sure that you don't have one. If you are missing some wires in the wiring harness then you might have one. The infinity and monsoon systems use a DIN cable to transfer the signal from the head unit to the amp which you have to go around.

If not, then it is just best if you go and buy the harnesses from a local stereo shop. They should run you more than 20 bucks. We sold them for under 10 at the shop that I use to work at.

As far as the mirrors and stuff not working. I would check all the fuses. The easiest way to do that is with a test light if you have one. Then you don't have to pull each fuse to check and see if they are blown. If you find that all of the fuses are fine then take the battery cables off of the car for about 15 minutes. This should reset everything in the car and should fix any problems that you might be having with a hung relay.

I had this same thing happen in my 3G and that fixed the problem right away after I spent a week going through wiring and fuses.

Well thanks for the fuse info but the rest of tht didnt help me much, I ned to know if there are two connectors that hooked up to the stock stereo and do i need the wires from both of them? With teh fron speakers there arent any black, or black/white wires however there are white/red,white/blue. just one set though.

Look under the passenger seat and if there is a black box then that is the factory amp. Let's just get that out of the way first. If you see a black box there then it's going to be a little harder.

also, heres the wiring diargram for my alpine

can you tell me where these go? compared to the diagram i gave you for the stock wiring

Basicall, power, ilumination and switch(ignition) are the only wires that you are going to take from the wiring harness behind the radio. Ground can go straight to the chassis of the car. All of the speaker leads need to be run down to the factory amp location and the harness down there has to be cut and the leads be tied in there.

The trick is figuring out which wires are what from the factory amp. You can take a 9v battery and figure out which leads go to which amp. If you take the battery and touch the leads to the terminals of the battery then it will make the speaker coils move back and forth and you can hear them pop. You can also use a multimeter for this if you have one.

An amp bypass is not the easiest thing to do especially if you are new to wiring in general. I did it in my 3G in about two and a half hours. Where is the diagram that you found for the wiring colors? If you don't mind, can you link to it so I can take a look at it to get a better idea of where you are getting these wire colors from?

I found this for you, hopefully this will work. On my talon, the guy who had the car before me cut the stock wiring harnesses off so i had to make my own connections as well and this worked.

After further inspection there is no amp, i got the alpine directions off the stereo its self

Ok, the easiest way to do this install is to go and buy the wiring harness for you car. The harnesses will have all of the wires color coded so you can just match them up and install the radio. I really don't see the point of hardwiring a radio in a car when the harness is so cheap. It will also be a lot easier to install the stock head unit if you decide to take that one back out.

Just make sure that you don't go to Best Buy or Circuit City. They will rip you off on installation materials. Go to a local stereo shop.

OK thank you, but what about the gauge lights not working, i checked teh fuses and unhooked the battery but still nothing. does teh key have to be on when you reset it?

No, you do not want them to be on when you reset the ecu. It sounds like either one of the main fuses under the hood is blown or you are overlooking a blown one inside the car. The best way to check for these fuses is with a test light. You can make sure that the fuse is actually good. I've seen tons of fuses that visually look fine but are blown and will not transfer current.

I know how aggrevating that is but you will just basically have to go through the whole electrical system including what you have done to the harness and check to make sure that nothing is grounding out and that no fuses are blown.

Ok thank you, one more question, I found the fuse under the hood that was blown and it turned everything on but the reading lamps on the mirror. Is that another fuse somewhere or could the lights be out. Also does all that stuff have to be working since its power obviously is connected in with teh stereo.

I am not for sure but I believe that the bulbs in the rearview mirror pull enough amperage to require their own fuse. Sometimes they are on the same circuit as the radio or another device though so you just have to plug through them to find the right one.

Are you not getting any power to the radio?

I dont even know which goes to which, so its hard to check.
I have this which makes no sense because there arent 13 wires and there are no black/white or black wires.
Constant 12V+ Red/Black
Switched 12V+ Blue

then there is this, but i dont know which one is the constant, the ones missing there are the speakers

I just dont know what goes to what.

the reason ## gauge lights are not working is because u blew the tail lights fues under the hood its the last ten amp on the top i have the same problem someone hgacked my haness before i got the car not im having problems but thats why your gauge lights are not wortking your tail lights should not be workin ether
