After pulling the center console out of my 2G Talon, I noticed this box with a big yellow harness plug but it wasn't plugged in.
When I researched it, it seems to be the SRS-ECU.
My check engine light is on, but air bag light is not.
Would this be unplugged for a reason by the previous owner or should i try plugging it back in?
I have heard these are a 1 time use, so if the car had been in a fender bender maybe it was unplugged for that reason?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

It's possible it was unplugged to either A) Make the SRS light go off B) Dissable the airbags as some people (including myself) feel they do more harm than good.

Try plugging it back in and see if your SRS light comes on.

makes sense.
now if i leave it unplugged and the light is out, thats the end of it? air bags wont deploy.

then if i plug it in and the light is on, that means the bags wont deploy either unless i replace the srs ecu?

just making sure the bags aren't going to deploy if i plug in to test LOL

well ive herd stories of airbags deploying on peoples faces when messing with that ecu and the sensors OMG

if you plug it disconect your battery and wait atleast 30 mins and then plug it, thats what i did and nothing bad happened to me :)

If its left unplugged then the bags shouldnt go off and if you plug it in and the SRS light is still on, then yes the air bags still wont go off in a crash, and as your last post says thats probably the best option

SRS light being on says there's a problem with the SRS function - it does not guarantee the bags won't go off in a collision. If you don't want them going off the best thing is to disconnect them at the bags. The passenger red connector is right behind and above the glove box - when you open the box you can see it (I've done this one). The drivers red connector is somewhere behind the steering wheel (I haven't done this one so don't know exactly).

Whenever you connect or disconnect ANY SRS connector keep your head out of the way of the air bags just in case any resulting spike sets them off ;)

my SRS light turned on the other day and it wasnt the first time.. happened over the winter.. i think it happens when the ECU is super cold and maybe causing a short... i took it to the dealer last winter and tehy said it could be a bad clock spring but it went off again so who knows.. these SRS ecus seem to be temperamental

The SRS connectors sometimes are the culpret making poor connections (eg. mine behind glove box did this and caused SRS light to come on). Unplug them, check/clean pins, reconnect. Keep head out of way of air bags just in case. Or disconnect battery and wait 30min first.
