Thanks for reading. This is my first post here and first 2G Eclipse. So I have a 1999 GST project car that I'm trying to resurrectthat was sitting for 3-4 years. I put a new clutch kit, fluids changed, new timing belt, new motor mounts, new clutch master & slave cylinder.....but when I drive it, it sputters while in gear and I have the pedal to the floor. When I rev it up, no sputtering! Any suggestions?! The gas tank was empty so I put a quarter tank of gas in it.

I plan on doing a tune up this weekend, any other things I should do? Thanks for your help! :thumb

Will post pics soon!!!

Get yourself a new set of Spark Plug Wires and Spark plugs if you haven't already. Make sure they're gapped around .27

Also, if the gas tank had any gas from those 3-4 years of sitting, I'd advise on draining it, and filling up a fresh new tank of 93. (if available)

NGK for both plugs and wires. If your application is mostly stock, then do BPRE6's. Other wise I'd do BPRE7's if you plan on modding down the road.

Also, make sure your blow off valve is recirculated back into the intake.

Awesome!! Thanks guys! Im looking to keep it stock for a little while. I picked it up for $1400 and the parts I listed are the ones I put in, with only 99,000 miles on it.

How do I make a BLT gadget?

I need your guys opinion.....I asked my mechanic to do a boost leak test, and he said it wasn't needed and said that I should never get advice from forums or chat rooms. Should I get a new mechanic?

UPDATE! - I changed out the plugs and found one plug was defective. The small white tip around the electrode was loose and sliding over the electrode interfering with the spark. Then I found that my brake lights would stay on after I turned off the car, so I changed and adjusted a new brake pedal switch - works fine. Now I have to change out the oil pressure switch and see why I have a small leak somewhere near my oil filter......

Thanks Crash! Probably the best thing I ever bought was a Haynes repain manual. Just a few more things to work out, and she'll be good to go. For a car being all stock, she can haul ass!! Maybe I'll venture in doing some research in making it an AWD.......

An all wheel swap was probably the best thing Ive done to the car. I was really getting tired of all the wheelspin. Ill take a hundred extra pounds or so for the added traction!

I finally just bought another Haynes manual. My old roommate had a Chilton a couple years ago and it did help me a lot. I got this one for mostly wiring diagrams and such since Im deleting a bunch of things.

Forget even getting another mechanic,

use the resource you have at your fingertips and make yourself one :).
