2G Rear inner axle cup differences

So, I pulled my stock rear axles about a month ago, and for the first time (last night), I noticed that the inner cups are different from each other. This is a M/T LSD rear end.

Can anyone explain why they would be different? Also, which one goes to which side? - or does that not matter?

The longer one is the passenger side.

Ya my passenger side looked like that long one. It must have something to do with the lsd .

+1 on that, and also the Tulips on the inside of the axle cups are different from LSD To Non LSD

Actually, its like that on the LSD and Non LSD Axles, Where the Passenger side is longer
