ok let me start by sayin this is on a 1996 Eclipse GSX with a 6-bolt swap the mods are up to date on my profile. This is the issue im running into i have 2 ecu's for the car the stock 1996 ecu for the car and a 1995 eprom ecu as aswell. So i threw a CEL for an egr flow code so i thought hey ill seafoam it to get it unsuck if that is the problem ( ford trick). I did it and it did the normal sea foam stuff i am postive its all been used up. and it was still blowing a light white smoke NO coolent smell on it what so ever. so i swaped ecus to the 1995 one and. then i get a random missfire on this one...but when i run the 1996 one it smokes but no miss... ive checked plugs plugwires the S-afc settings are correct and there is no corrections set on there...i have re-installed the 96 ecu again since the 95 failed and emissions test here...so im tryin to diagnose the smoke on the 96 ecu that is only present on this one...i droped new plugs in i double checked the gap and everything too they are 6 heat range proper gap and all...so any help on this would be greatly apprecated thank you in advance.

but this smoke only happens on the 96 ecu not the 95 eprom and the smoke is comeing out the tail pipe

Well, like you stated earlier, the 95 ecu wasn't working. Stick with the 96 ecu for now. But, run that motor again and check where the smoke is coming from.

ok...so i ran the car with the 96 ecu this afternoon till it was smoking well then quick changed the ecu while the engine was still hot still smoked so i switched back to the 96 again and when for a drive tonight when it was cooler out and got on her a bit and as far as i can tell its done smoking so apparently old cat old exhaust alot of miles equalls a long burn off time...thanks for the help

so what i guess happend is the night i did the swap the first time it the wind must have shifted or that it was dark to the point where i didnt see it....i feel smart LOL

sorry to post the fix this late...i found the cause after i replaced my 16g with a newer one (tons of shaft play) i had a crimped oil return line, causing oil to back up in the turbo, when it was warm it was buring the oil so i replaced the drain line, and no more smoking :)
