So I went to a junk yard to get a 1998 Eclipse 420a automatic ECU (they didn't have a manual) to put in the 1999 Eclipse 420a manual. Everything works and runs but an engine code pops up; if I'm right its some type of automatic transmission sensor. Any ideas on how to get that engine code off. Trying to sell the car and I don't want to sell with a check engine light on

IIRC, three (3) pins on the 420 ecu have an output for use with an automatic trans: Pins 60, 63 and 76. These pins on your new, used ecu, are expecting to see a tcu or trans solenoid connection.

Unfortunately, not even connecting an unused tcu will solve the problem, since the cel will just indicate other problems.

As long as the car runs well, you'll have to explain the situation to the buyers.
