once the Stock Mitsu 2g pistons are on the 1g rods, would the machine shop have to bore the engine to install them or could they go in without being bored.

Thanks

Ps.. If u heard of Topline, Nippon, ITm Pistons, if there any good and can handle 20 psi with no problem. I wanted to get them in 2g pistons to install on my 1g rods but i dont it to go to waste

How much psi can the 2g piston 1g rods hold?

It all depends on the tune. People have gone past 20psi with the 2g/1g combo, but if you detonate, it doesn't matter if you have weisco/JE/Ross/Eagle/etc...somethings gonna hurt if you don't have it tuned right...period.

If thats the case, then what is the point of upgrading to stronger internals, if lets say it only going to be a street driven car, and prolly driven occasionally at the track. Ive been doing some searching on this, and it seems everyone says go with forged internals, because there better and stronger, and if there is some detonation, those parts give you room for error.

20psi on what? a T88? You can run up to 550whp with stock 1G big rods.

Forged pistons are less susceptible to damage by detonation...not to say that it can't happen, they just are a bit tougher. Plust they allow you to change your compression numbers. The 2g/1g combo is just right for most of the people on this site. I built mine with Weisco/Eagles only because I plan on running bigger turbos and higher numbers down the line and don't want to have to rip my motor apart twice.

He was just asking if it would hold 20psi, which it will on numerous turbos. Yes people have made up to 550whp on stock 1g rods, but I wouldn't expect that out of every set. A good conservative figure of HP limits on the 1g rods would be 400-450ish.

My goal is about 500whp. im going with a 50 trim, and im debating on 2g pistons 1g rods, or going with all forged
