2g Knock sensor location?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Any 4g63 knock sensor is located on the back of the block underneath the intake manifold. If you take off your intake tract and look down by where the starter is, it is the only thing screwed into the back of your block.

Yup. Under the car, reach over the axle and then some. Hope you know someone with skinny arms. Haha.

its probably helpful if you dont have A/C then you can go from the top on the drivers side.. at least thats what i will atempt to do. cause i have to replace mine as well :) but i have all my Emissions stuff deleted as well as A/C
i can see that first freeze plug but i wasnt sure i saw my knock sensor there... oh but then again i have a 6 bolt block.... would that be in a different location?

Holy shit - Someone used the search button. Where are the party poppers?

But yes - It's certainly there. Just feel around a bit. It's going to be a pain to get to with the intake manifold on, but you can do it.

:p

itll be dooable. i can get my whole hand under there from the driver side with no Air conditioning in there.. huge open spot in the back of the bay. i can see the driver axel, and the down pipe from the top, and i am by no means skinny armed. haha wish the damn things werent so expensive

True - Or get lucky and grab a used one from the Classifieds.

I believe they are... 27MM? Something around that. Maybe 28MM. A large wrench can fit back there. It's what I've had to use.

only bummer is i got my AC bracket still there... cause i couldent remove it haha but i can def feel it with my hand and its fairly easy to get to without the huge condensor in there. so what is it 3/8ths or 27mm?? i do have an 02 socket that i could use. also where the hell does the other end of the pig tail connect to, i cant seem to trace it?

put my iphone under the intake manifold hoping to get a shot of it. i think that this is the wire that im looking for, the damn AC bracket is right in the way of the sensor in the pic haha bottom pic is upside down.

I too need to know this ^^^ all of my knock sensor wiring appears to be removed or vanished. Was wondering where it actually clips into. There is one plug near there, but I figured it was for the condenser (a/c removed). The only one I see is a triangle shaped plug that appears to be 3 prongs with green plastic inside the plug

I've been baffled about this as well. Only thing I can think of is the harness connector runs from the sensor (on the block) up next to the CAS just to make it easy to unplug.

Mine is also same story as above... mr. lovely-gst. I looked about a half hour ago in this area, all around, found nothing. I also was under the vehicle a couple days ago and didn't find anything. No wires to, from, near, or disconnected in that general area.

My wiring is also missing from the back of the sensor. Which sucks because my timing at wot is 1* when my keydiver is tuned to run 16*. Anything above 2500rpms at any throttle position shows (on the factory boost gauge mod) that I'm at crazy amounts of knock and its pulling timing. Damn jack ass mechanics...

Would you have rather responded in two new threads made by myself and lovely gst over the same issue? Tsicktalon may have started one at some point too... so three threads. Because mine (thread) was coming fairly soon, since I've been all over underneath and up top trying to find wiring for the knock sensor.

Sorry late response, it took me a bit to find cause some idiot taped the connector off to the side when then knock sensor on the block could have simply been replaced and connected.:notgood::ohdamn:

But I'm flattered of the miss judgement that I am guy. Diamonds are a girls best friend:thumb::D:sneaky:
