Well i am planning a 6bolt build for my 98gst... i WANT to go with an entire 6bolt engine but i have access to a very cheap 2g head that i can build up for alot cheaper then going the entire 6bolt route... i know the head bolt holes need machining out to fit the 6bolt block is that it?... plus ive searched and found people taking both sides of the subject but is it actually going to be worth it for me to build a 2g head for my 6bolt block?

Do a search on "1g vs. 2g head". then make your decision. the 2g head is meant for high velocity, low revs.. the 1g almost vice versa.

the 1g intake manifold is better flowing than the 2g manifold.

a stock 2g and 1g head has been used to get to the 11's and even the 10's

now, what are your goals?

I was in your shoes about 2 weeks ago, but then I realized that it'd be much easier to just do a complete 6 bolt setup. With a 2g head, you'd need to do machine work, port work, etc.. along with wiring a 1g CAS to it. too much work for little to no gain if you ask me.

yeah dude, i had already searched before i ever posted... and i was kind of leaning the same way as you once i started reading about it.... but your comment helped me decide dude.. thx i guess ill just go with the 1g head cause less machine work = less money .... thx!!

Personally, I would go with a 1g head. The power difference at the top of the power band is enormous, and its strictly bold on. I've ridden in similarly modded 6-bolts, one with a 2g head and one with a 1g head and the difference was very noticeable.

As posted, a 2g head will make your car feel like it has more torque down low, and a 1g head will just rip it on the top end. Get the head for whatever future goals you have for your car.
