Okay, so I know that this has been asked before and I've researched it. But I couldn't find a couple things. I'm not asking what parts I need, I've seen that.
My question is : For the 2G gsx swap, I can ONLY use 2g gsx or 2g talon awd parts? Like I'd have to find a parts car or use parts of a car, it can ONLY be a 2g gsx or 2g talon awd?

Also, just a complete rough estimate, with all the parts what would it cost to get done at a shop?

Anddd, is it worth it? Would it be better to just throw a translab shift kit in it? The main reason i want it is just the pure fun it is to drive a 5 speed opposed to driving an auto, but is it worth the money/time?

Thanks.

If your wanting to go from an auto awd to a 5-Spd awd, your going to need alot of parts.

Trans, rear diff, engine harness, shifter assy, add clutch petal, smaller brake petal. Also iirc the axles are different too. You would need to buy a 5-Spd awd shell to make it worth the time and money.

But if you do swap over let ms know, I like auto parts.

A 2g AWD DSM is a 2g AWD DSM, it doesn't matter which platform you get your parts from.

I did the swap with a friend, working 8 hours a day for 2 weeks on the conversion. Depending on the labor rates in your area you can guesstimate the cost is going to be $2000+ for someone else to do the conversion, IF you can find a place knowledgable enough to do it.

Most AWD DSM'rs want the A/T drivetrain...

I just remembered Chris, I still need to email you those damn pictures don't I? :ohdamn:

I was under the impression that the auto and 5spd drivetrain had different gear ratios. Thats the reason I couldnt use my auto rear diff for my awd swap.. :idontknow:

Read what I quoted above.
