Ok guys I gotta stock 2g gst and I have a hallman mbc and was looking fir information on installation. The bit of info that I know is the mbc has an in an out. The out runs to the actuator and the in runs to the compressor housing
I looked at the turbo and a hose runs from the actuator then t's off an a hose runs into the compressor housing.....do I basically just run the hose off the compressor to the IN port. And the OUT port to the actuator?? If that's the case what would be the best thing to do with the other hose that runs off the t? I didn't follow to see where it goes yet figured someone would know what I'm talking about.

Any info will be appreciated I will continue to search as well to be sure I'm following the right step

yeah i have that paper work with the mbc. LOL im an idiot i guess i just let the hose that runs to the boost silinoid confuse me for some reason like a dumb dumb. oh well time to connect the mbc and enjoy the extra umph haha

hmm...got the mbc installed. did a test run with it turned all the way down and ran good at tjhe normal 10psi stopped and turned it up a bit and didnt gain any boost. so i stopped and turned it quite a bit and still nothing...possible that i hooked the hoses up backwards and get this result or maybe something different?...or maybe the fact that i have a stock exhaust causing no boost gains? hmmm

If you followed the directions, then it should be hooked up correctly. But just to avoid confusion, can you add a pic of how it is setup now? And try turning it some more.

i actually cant load up any pics i lost the usb cable to my phone :( but i do have the hoses ran correct ive looked and unhooked and redone twice LOL. and i have basically turned the adjustment knob all the way postive and still nothing....if you absolutly need pics to varify i will text them to anyone

Just to confirm, you should take a picture of how it is set up and let other verify it was hooked up correctly.

There is no mention of a boost gauge, nor if you profile up to date. I would not be cranking boost until I have a aftermarket boost gauge so I can accurately see what boost level you turbo is set to. With that being said, I have a hallman boost controller, if you have it set all the way out, and only turn it "a little" bit in twice, then you are probably not reaching a level of spring resistance to warrant boost change. Continue to do what you are doing, turn the knob "a little" each time, so you can raise the boost level slowly and safely. IIRC, it took a few full rotations of the knob for me to achieve 14psi on my 14b.

Here's a tech article that we have been using for a while to help MBC install: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/237982-best-way-install-mbc.html

or maybe the fact that i have a stock exhaust causing no boost gains? hmmm

That doesn't make any sense, its not the exhaust job to create boost, turbine wheel and compressor wheel go hand and hand, the flow of exhaust gases determine the spool characteristic of a turbo.

i know exhaust doesn't have anything to do with boost levels. was just throwing another option out there that i had in my head is all LOL and just the thought or restrictions from the exhaust is what i had in mind...but i will continue to adjust and see what happens...

I edited my post:

oh yeah i have a prosport boost gauge installed.

anyhow fellas, ive turned the bc all the way positive and still nothing. is there anything im suppose to do that involves the boost silinoid at all? because basically i unhooked the hose from it and plugged the nipple off and then the other one runs into my intake...

I would remove the stock boost solenoid from the equation, bypass it. There should be two vacuum lines regarding you MBC and wastgate. Boost source to MBC, then MBC to wastegate. That link I posted has picture that could help. I am just trying to verify if you hooked it up correctly at this point.

How is your boost gauge set up?

i would post a pic of the set up but i cant. but i have the hoses ran correctly. and the reason i haven't unhooked the boost silinoid is bc the manual says not to on a 2nd gen to avoid error codes......and my boost gauge is hooked up to the vaccums on the intake manifold.

I shouldn't effect anything, but I understand if you dont want a CEL while driving. Plus, you might not know if another CEL appears.

are you asking me a serious question or...? ha im new to dsms so im learning everything new here.
but all in all the silinoid is out of the way except for its still plugged up but no hoses running off it. but i have the controller hooked up correct ive had like 4 people look at it and the instructions on it so im good there.

Thats what I meant by bypass it, just unplug the vacuum hose.

I would say since you have the MBC hooked up properly and you know you are getting an accurate vacuum/psi reading, go ahead and take apart the MBC and see if anything is wrong with it. The hallmans should have threaded barb fittings where the vacuum line attaches.

Wait, if the car isn't building any boost that means that the waste gate is not functioning properly, stuck open.

okay if i take it apart what exactly would i be looking for ? i mean its brand new ive had it less the 24 hours so i would say theres notbhing wrong with it but who knows i guess right ill check em out

okay i took both the fittings out and check if the spring was compressing correctly and it is, everything from looking at the controller looks to be working good....so why not boost gain? hmmm

and its not that its not building boost, its boosting to 10psi which is what it was boosting to before i ever touched anything on it. and im just looking to increase to 15psi and just let it sit there for a while.

yes there is..sitting at the bottom of the controller.

hm i just dont understand what the problem would be. i have the lines ran correctly and everything so where is my problem? is it my actuator being bad and just not being able to push more then the stock level? boost leak causeing this issue? \

Trix, I had the same problem last week. Spent an entire Sunday adjusting, driving, and getting extremely frustrated... I bet your still running the 2g blow off valve aren't you? You can't boost any higher because the damn thing leaks so bad. Throw the BLT on it, pressurize to 12-13 and listen for it leaking, it also could be a leak somewhere else but this was the answer to my problem. Good luck!

Oh ya the bov could be the issue. Damn POS 2g bov haha.

I been stumped all day. If its the 2g stock BOV then g*ddamn mitsu for using it. I feel bad for you 2g guys, thats just ridiculous. A boost leak so large from the BOV that a MBC turned all the way down only is producing 10psi, thats amazing.

Just to make sure, I would do a boost leak test now.

I switched my bov to the 1g bov and gained three psi from like 12 psi to 15. Those bov are junk and I would not be the least bit surprised if it is that thing that is holding you back. Go grab a 1g bov off craigslist and you should be good
