hi guys,

i check on the forum for the above question and i found some people saying yes it fits and others said no :confused:

which one is correct ?

i need to transfer the front axels from an auto gst 2g to my manual Gst do they fit or not

Thanks

They are the same axles! I did a M/T swap on my 97 GST and I am still using the OEM A/T axles.
I have also stuck auto axles in my m/t 1g FWD.
They are the same.

Try counting the splines and compare both of them. You at least need to pull the ones off of your car so there's half the work done. Otherwise call a parst store and ask for a set and see if they ask you auto or manual.

i am very confident that someone here has the right answer , there are so many qualified members on the forum to answer this question, i will wait for a while until a WISEMAN put an end for it.

Why don't you try it. We have two people here that both have done it and claim they either will or will not work. Neither Rich nor Flash has any reason to lie. You can keep sitting with a thumb up your ass and wait or you can just do it. Wisemen get shit wrong too you know.

tim ,

iam not in the states man , i am in DUbai and here there is nothing free , i wish i have parts store that can understand me or understand what is the brand of my car. they dont even know what is the car iam driving .

removing the axles needs a lot of money here they are asking for 200 USD for the job. i dont want to be screwed and waste the money and then they dont fit.

iam not saying than anybody is liyng here ,i just need a right answer .

chill out

The answer is that they are the same, I have done a few transmission swaps(auto to manual) and every time the axles popped right in and were the same as the manual ones.

My 2g FWD GST was an Auto, I sapped it to Manual, and I used the same axles, andI have put over 30k miles on her and it doesnt have any problems, no axle seal leaks or busted axles. They just pop right in.
I have also used axles out of junkyards from auto's and put them in friends M/t cars and I can assure you a auto axle will work.

thanks for answering man i appreciate it, i just have one question why other people are saying that it wont fit eventhough they did a swap as well? its just confusing man

thanks again

some of the threads are saying that i need an intermediate shaft ??? does anyone know anyhting about this.

It's not hard to do an axle swap. Try doing it one day. From what I hear auto axles are .5" shorter than a manual but it's such a small difference it's negligible. It's possible people compared it side by side, saw the difference and wrote it off as different.

Here is the tech article I used for my swap. I wish I took a picture of the axles side-by-side. He said in the article "I’ve heard lots of stories where people tried to use there old cv joints or axles and they didn’t fit...mine did so if your lucky yours will also." So it may be a toss up.

so flash you are saying they fit or they did not? i have seen that thread and i cant base my swap on luck.

you did the swap right? did they fit ? please tell me again about your own experience .

cheers

guess what?????

the axels did not fit and i have paid a lot of money :applause: :applause: :applause: thank you guys you have been so helpful

Wow... I was wondering the samething, but I'm going to do the test for myself. Sounds like it works for some people, but others just aren't okay with that .5" difference.

I know I am bringing up a dead post but manual axles will not fit in an auto and vise versa have one on my lift and the splines going into the transmission are different. Autos have a bigger OD than the manual.
