Hey guys so i haven't actually seen the car smoke yet but my friend was following me home earlier because i just bought the car and i only had 3 gears. Anyways i did a couple little pulls testing the car, and i guess after that pulls it started smoking. My friend said it was really bad but i didn't see any smoke. im really worried about compression. But i think its the turbo because there was oil in the intake pipes? i don't know if that means anything. I do know i had a 1g and it got bad compression though, and it would fill the road with smoke, bog, and die, This 2g doesn't do that so im hopeful that its just the turbo because i have 2 spares i can put in it. thanks in advance for replying.

Any Shaft play on the turbo, spin freely or make any noise when you shut the car down? Some amount of oil in the intake track is normal if the breathers are still routed to the intake. If Not i would do a compression test and see what that shows.

Knowing the color of the smoke would be helpful. If the smoke is blue it's oil burning. If the smoke is white you're burning coolant.

Having oil in your intake pipe is normal, not necessarily "good", but normal. It's due to the blow-by from your motor. A way around this is collecting the oil with a catch can, rather than recirculating it into your intake.

I think he is referring to the pipe that the turbo connects to( where air is sucked in.).Which is caused by the oil seal on the turbo. Also if the smoke is black, it's from a rich mixture.

If you're speaking about the intake, that is not necessarily because the oil seal on the turbo is bad, that is most likely from the blow-by from the motor. Pressure from the valve cover is pushed into the intake, with that air comes oil. Which is normal. And if that is the case, the oil will then be pushed through the intercooler piping. And like I said, can be prevented using a catch can.
