Hello!
I would like to know if any one has any experience with evo 9 pistons valve clearance in 2g. I did measure c/r 8.3-8.4:1 on stock hg (0.0511) with evo piston. I want higher c/r with these pistons, and as they are about 0.070 lower from the piston head than 2g piston, i could mill out from block some to get higher c/r?

So basicly im trying to ask how much could you safely mill off from block surface, and how much could i do with valve releaf area in pistons?

I would like to get 9.5:1 for sure, but that would be 0.0590 off from the block with stock size hg

haha this is my first post in here...
Thanks!

Get different pistons to raise the CR.

Milling that much will weaken the block deck, and also screw the the mechanical timing between the cams and crank

Ok thanks! How much would you be ready to mill off? i have adjustable cam gears. Im gonna use e85 so i really dont want lower than stock c/r.

I commonly mill about .004 to deck a 4g block.

I have not cut much more than that.

But get rid of the Evo pistons, and get a set of 2g pistons. The 2g pistons have a 1cc smaller dish and that will help raise the CR.

Or find a Hyundai 1.8 with the smaller combustion chambers to help raise the CR.
