ok ive been doing some reseach on the evo 9 pistons. and i cant seem to find the right way to drop the evo 9 pistons into the block. people are saying that i have to take them to get them turnd and some are say the dots have to face the trans and some say that the dots face the timing side. i dont kn ow i got confussed. could someone please help:confused:

i thought they had to face the trans because the front is how the dot faces on the evo and the evo faces opposite of ours so the piston would have to go in backwards, also due to the offset wrist pin. sorry to bring an old thread back to life but no one seemed to say otherwise and i want to know for sure before i put my nines in...

anyone have any new input here?

The engines spin the same direction so you will have the mark on the piston point towards the timing side of the engine like it is on the evo engine. This causes the valve reliefs to be on the wrong side of the piston, but it works out. Think if you just took the evo bottom and rotated it 180 degrees and put it in a dsm. The piston marks will still face towards the timing side of the engine.

That actually makes perfect sense. Thank you bryan! :ohdamn::thumb:

EDIT: let me clarify. thank you for the "its so easy a caveman can do it" explanation.
