2g downpipe on 1g?

so.. what is the real difference between those two. I have a 1g TSi but i got one of my friend's 2g eclipse GST downpipe. I haven't even looked under the car but what is the difference? can it be fit?

from what i have found hours and hours of searching and talking to a ton of ppl. the 2g fwd down pipe will fit the 1g fwd. but the 2g awd down pipe wont fit the 1g fwd.

other then that the 2g awd down pipe is straight like the 1g awd down pipe so i think it should fit IMO. you might have to cut the flang and turn and re weld it. but why not just buy a down pipe for the 1g save time and money just in case. also the 2g down pipe that i was looking in to geting was the megan from ebay for 100$ shiped

also you can just buy the manderl bends from summit and the flex section and flanges and have a muffler shop weld it all up for about the same price as the ebay megan down pipe

the reason i'm trying to do this is because i my friend gave me a downpipe for free. that is why i'm trying to see if they work

I had a 2G, so I have a 3" downpipe, and now I've got a 1G. You better believe that I tried to put it on! Either way it doesn't work. For some reason the 2G downpipe was either 1) to short, or 2) to long. I know thats not helping much, I tried this along time ago... I am pretty sure that it was way to long though.

Sell it on e-bay and buy another. That or get under there and see for yourself.

(Also the mounting brackets on the 2G downpipe will conflict with something under there also which I remember. Besides be being the wrong size, it won't even slide up in there. Mine atleast...)

if its to short why not just cut and reweld it and if its to long do the same just ad a peace of 3" pipe not hard and it would save a ton of money if you got the down pipe for free
