I would do that, but I don't have center vents. That's where my boost gauge and boost controller is. The picture ^^^^ is my custom vent pod, and I don't want to get rid of it.

If your radio doesn't get in the way use something like that metal thing and mount it on the bottom of the radio area. If you put back far enough it will be out of the way of the shifter. (I did this with my SAFC)

Why not make a similar bracket as the one linked but design it to hold your logger off to the right of the vents, right next to the rear window wiper switch and have it angled in towards the driver's seat? I'm in the middle of buying a Palm to use as my datalogger and that's the area that I plan on mounting mine.
