Hello all, I'm in the process of swapping a dash from a auto 99' GS into a manual 97' TSI. So I just pulled the dash out of the 99' and I'm wondering if the harness attached to it from the pictures are universal throughout models? Or do I have to swap it with the 97' harness? Thanks.

I would personally swap the harness for the gauges, but I have read somewhere on here that the turbo harness will work with the non-turbo cluster. That's the only difference between the harnesses. Don't forget to swap the VIN plate.

Well, what I've always done fro the VIN plate is drill out the rivets, and insert new ones. Pop rivets from your local hardware store are perfect. Even if you do have to swap the harnesses, it's only a few screws, and nothing hard to get around.

Update:

This time around I labeled all the bags and bolts with respect to the trim and locations. Additionally I labeled the connectors and wires with blue painters tape, figure it would be easier navigating when I put it back together.

Got the Talon dash out today, almost stopped because it was getting dark out but felt the need to finish. I'm taking a lot more pictures now. I also found some wiring I want to clean up, mainly the triple gauge pillar gauges and a little under the steering wheel like the turbo timer. Any how tomorrow I'll be swapping the harnesses from the dashes. In my case I actually have to swap the dash harness being as the Talon has the Infinity tweeters and the Eclipse does not so the harnesses differ and a few other points I noticed different connectors . You'll see what I mean from the pics.

Small update:

Got the harnesses swapped over, now to just swap the VIN plates and I can start putting the dashes back in.

Turns out the VIN rivets pop out easily and can be reused
