2G 2g coil relocation HELP

I've searched and didn't find anything. I did a little bit of wire tucking on the intake and decided to move the coil pack. Problem is, is I don't know where to put it. Can you send some pics of your setup.

i just bent some brackets and used existing bolt holes. I used the DIY v8 performance plug wire kit. it gave me enough long wires to reach everything and cut them down a little.

If i were trying to hide it i would probably bolt the coil packs to the fire wall sockets pointing down. then just run the wires around the side of the manifold, or threw if it you like and dive right under the plug wire cover.

of course the 'got money' fix would be to just go coil on plug.


this sorta question would normally fit the appearance form better, so your gonna have to make it look really good and post up lots o pics.

If youre halfway decent with metal working and electrical, you can build a COP for next to nothing. This little piece cost me under $50 to build. Built it a couple years back when I sucked at building stuff.

COP is a down grade for us though performance wise.

cop by itself is most definitely a downgrade unless you use it with a system like an m&w box then it is def. an upgrade

Not to be side tracked but Why does the engine look backwards.. Like an evo style..WTF.. The stock coils can handle 500hp with out an additional box and yes its been proven. COP w/o a CDI box won't give you anything but looks you may actually cause more harm because the coils themselves won't be at their fullest potential.

Yes it is a mirror image. Just look at the wind shield wipers, they move the opposite direction.

Custom RHD conversion. all jdm parts yo. and the wipers are Gt speck


did not know about COP being a 'down grade' in fact that makes very little sense to me because you are removing a potential weak link in the system, removing resistance, and simplifying the setup.. I dont see how it could be worse.

I do however understand that it is useless untill your outrun the stock system, which is good for more than 95% of dsm'ers will ever see.

Ill do some more research on it just for kicks.

Dwell time is a largely overlooked aspect of the COP setups . This causes problems with the timing of the recharge and discharge of the spark.

Back in the day I put my coils mounting on a bracket I made on the back of the block ... then I took the wires and ran them between the intake manifold runners up to the plugs. Heres when I had it like that:

No offense, but I thought the point of the relocation would be to make it look cleaner, not messier (other than ones with an aftermarket intake, with no better place available). Mine's just laying in front of the master cylinder reservoir between the intake and shock tower, and it looks cleaner than these pics.

. almost a year later the image is finally the proper way around. haha.

my engine-bay doesn't even remotely look like that now!
point to anything in that picture other than the valve cover and the intake manifold and i have replaced it.

battery relocated, IC pipes, new bov, relocated fuse box, old intake is now a ram air setup, FP exhaust mani, new PS and alternator, all the emissions hoses on the fire wall have been removed, I did go cop after the coils failed, overflow bottle is aftermarket and on the firewall, new injectors, new maf system. Hell i replaced the damn dipstick!

at least i have been busy .

I did a wire tuck on one for a customer and I ended up placing the coil on the underside of the SMIM he has (magnus). All I had to do was modify the bracket so that it would bolt onto one of the studs and then the wires would go right between two of the runners and plug right into the coil...I dont have any pics unfortunately but maybe I can do some magic in paint to show you better how it was

i started to do a coil relocation and had a coil bracket cut to put the coils on top of the ac compressor bracket but decided i didn’t like the way it routed past the FPR. if it was an AN fitting instead of a FPR then i probably would have kept it there. i will see if i can find some pics of what i had done...
