ok so after looking through the many threads on this subject ive noticed that opinions vary as to wether switching from stock plugs and wires to a coil on plug setup provides more preformance or just cleans up the engine bay.

my questions.
1.the marketers state you will see more mpg with a cop setup is this true?
2.is there ever any maintance required with it? i.e how often to replace the coils?

now here is my biggest question.

im trying to build up an upgrade list of all the things i would like to do with my 2g
and 2 of those things are

1.AEM fuel rail(for better and more fuel flow)
2.new intake manifold
3.larger injectors

so if i go with a cop setup with larger injectors will i need to get specific coils for the larger injectors?

also can i upgrade the fuel rail and intake with stock coils and plugs or is it just easier to go to the cop setup at that point

versus fighting remounting the stock coilpack

Will you have any aftermarket CDI (Dynatek, MSD DIS, etc.)? If not, I'd say stick with the stock ignition setup.

I haven't heard too much about maintenance with the coils for a COP setup. But then again, I don't know too many people who are running them successfully. And I have no idea about gas mileage, but I'm not sure why it'd be better.

No aftermarket fuel rail is needed. The stock will flow just fine. The only reason to go aftermarket is for bling or if you want easy installation with stainless steel fuel lines (i.e. some have built in AN fittings on the ends). Save the money and use it elsewhere.

Yes, you can use stock coils/wires with an aftermarket manifold (I'm assuming SMIM?). JMF makes a bracket to mount the coil pack to if using an SMIM. The bracket bolts to the block underneath the manifold.

No, special coils are not required per what injectors are using.
