2G CAS & Crank Sensor in a 1G

Using the below diagram, can I connect a 2g CAS and a 2g Crank sensor to the CAS connector on a 1g engine harness? It looks like I would need to connect the red positive and black negative wires on the 2g Cam sensor to the 1g CAS connector terminals 3 and 4. I'm planning to run 1G DSMLink with a 1g DSM wiring harness and would like to use the 2g sensors. Also, if I do this it looks like the cam signal will be inverted, so I think I'll need to switch the fuel injector pins on the ECU connector correct?

Not really... at least, not directly using that diagram.

The crank sensor would also need a power and a ground wire. So somehow or another you would have to split the power and the ground from the 1G CAS harness connector to the two sensors.

The cam signal will only be inverted if you are using a '95-'96 CAS which would be an extremely poor idea overall unless you are using a 2G head. Even then, that is -- in my opinion -- the worst cam sensor found in DSMs. If it is a 2Gb cam sensor, nothing should need to be swapped.

what would the reason be for down grading your sensors to 2g? the adjustable 1g cas is the best one to have for ignition timing control.

This is going in my 4g64 conquest swap and there isn't enough space between the head and the firewall for the 1g CAS and I'd bet the 2gb CAS wouldnt fit there either. So the cam sensor and crank sensor of the 2ga is a perfect solution if it will work. I already have a 1g engine harness and 1g dsmlink, so if it will work then I'd like to use it. Also the stock engine mounts from the 4g64 bolt in to the conquest perfect and mount to the stock conquest trans perfect, so I'm definitely not making new mounts.

So why would this diagram not work? For some reason its not showing up for me so I'm re-posting it. Take terminals 3 and 4 on the 1g CAS plug and split it to terminals 1 and 3 on the 2g cam sensor and 1 and 3 on the 2g crank sensor. Then run terminal 2 from the 2g cam sensor plug to terminal 1 on the 1g CAS plug, then take terminal 2 from the 2g Crank sensor and hook it to terminal 2 on the 1g CAS. I must be missing something because it makes sense to me.

So the cam signal will be inverted, swaping the fuel injector pins on the ECU should remedy that then correct? I shouldn't need to swap spark plug wires or anything I don't think.

The 1g cas is resting on the firewall, not letting the engine sit properly and bolt up to the trans.

After re-reading the write up, it does look like I'll have to swap spark plug wires too. If I were using a 2gb am sensor then I wouldn't from what I can tell.

The application kinda changes things which is the reason for me asking why. If it's the only thing that can work without hammering in the firewall, go for it, IMO.

With what you've said here, you aren't missing anything. Going off of the diagram alone, there obviously wouldn't be a power or ground wire going to the 2G cam sensor.

Trying to mount a 2Ga cam sensor on a 1G head is silly and, in my opinion, should be avoided at all costs. That bit is irrelevant to what you are doing. It is also my opinion that it is the worst simply because it is very easy to damage and a PITA to replace, comparatively speaking.

You're correct. You'll want to swap the injector wires at the ECU and the spark plug wires.

Now I'll go ahead and say I don't make any guarantees that using these sensors will work as I'm not sure I've personally ever seen it. But the 2G sensors should provide the needed signals for the ECU to allow everything to run. And certainly you aren't the first to do something like this.

This worked out great on my car. I haven't gotten it tuned but it runs and pulls decently(14b).

Why would a 1g CAS offer "better ignition timing control"? It's supposed to be set with a timing light and then not touched. I'm not sure how that comment makes sense. 2G separated the cam and crank sensor to account for head and block decking afaik.
