As many of you know, there have been several companies in the past that have produced carbon fiber hatches. To my knowledge, the last company to produce the 2G CF hatches was GTFabrications...

I am personally in need of a 2G CF hatch, and I am certain many of my fellow tuners are as well.

I'm starting this thread to generate a buzz in order to get whoever currently owns the molds for the CF hatches to start making them again for us.

Perhaps we can start a list of people interested:

depending on the price, Id be very interested in one. All of us with blown hatch shocks know how heavy that damn thing is LOL.

For those who are considering buying a cf hatch, and are leaning towards an ebay $400 cf hatch instead of a Vis Racind $800 cf hatch. Before you decide buying a cheapo cf hatch, I would suggest searching around before deciding. Fittment on these ebay cf parts are usually off, and trying to have it replace for sure will be next to impossible. A reputable manufacturer and seller like Vis wont have to much of a problem replacing a cf hatch if the fittment is off. Also a factor between ebay cf parts and manufacturers like Vis Racing or Carbon Creations are the materials used. Cheap ebay cf parts use polyester resin and high quality cf parts use epoxy resin. Polyster resin tends to crack and is cheaper than epoxy baded resin. Cheap ebay cf parts dont use UV protection clear coat as high quality cf parts use. Cheap ebay cf parts tend to fade yellowish due to not having a UV protection clear coat.

Just a tip and some info for those deciding whether to buy cheap ebay cf parts over high quality cf parts such as manufacturer like Vis or Carbon Creations...

Word of advice. If you want a cf hatch that fits and last, save a little more and go with a Vis hatch... Eventhough I work as an automitive technitian, my uncle owns a boat fiberglass repair shop and I have help him quite a few times and have learned quite a bit on the different materials and their pros and cons. Its your choice whether to buy a cheap ebay cf hatch or a Vis cf hatch. When the times comes for me to swap my oem hatch for a cf hatch, Ill go with Vis.
