2G 2G Bad Starter?

I just bought a 95 eclipse gst the guy said it had a bad starter so I replace it today and all it does is click and I tested the new starter and it work the only way how to start the car is to pop the clutch and it will start any idea

You have big grounds going to starter. Are they there? One battery to firewall other battery to starter bolt at trans.

Yes they are both there for some reason it almost sounds like it is not getting enough power to the starter and the battery is good

How do you know battery is good?

I tested the battery it got 12.4 volts

That does not mean its good. Volts isn't enough. You need a load test. If you dont have the ability take it somewhere. Have it tested and charged.

Make sure large battery cables ends (aka terminals) are clean (remove both ends of both and sandpaper ends) and tight and not internally cracked (and flexable - try moving them while trying to start). That may be your entire problem. Even 0.1 ohm resistance in the connections will prevent starter from engaging. Also make sure the starter signal wire end is clean and tight (often it gets loose or falls off).

Open circuit battery voltage is meaningless - even half dead batteries will measure 12v. Battery voltage must maintain > 9.6v WHILE starter is cranking or get the battery load tested.

I have this same problem right now found out Saturday night with a no start. My battery reads 12.3V but doesn't have enough voltage to start the car.
It does happen.

I had a similar issue like this long ago, the wires inside the sheathing has become brittle and were also discolored, decided to just rewire the power and ground lines from battery , starter and alternator with an inline fuse for the alternator.

Hands down probably the best thing I did for my car. Very noticeable improvement.
