2g 7bolt in 1g will it work

Ok i know that the 1g eclipse talon laser after 92.5 had a 7 bolt i was wondering if i could put a 2g 7 bolt into a 1g i kno its. Not common but i need to kno cause my 93 eclipse gst took a crap on me and my piston cracked in half. Thanks

The 1G 7 bolt still has the threaded areas for the engine mounts, whereas the 2G engines have the front and rear mounts on the trans, not the block. Therefore, you can put a 1G 7 bolt into a 2G, but not the other way around. Rather than try to find another 7 bolt, you can easily swap to a 6 bolt. The only real difference is the flywheel, everything else is straightforward since it's a 1G.

Like I said, the only thing you'd "need" is a 6 bolt flywheel. All of the electronics will swap right over (CAS, TB/TPS/ISC, coil pack, coolant sensors, etc.). Just be sure to use the correct 6 bolt items such as timing tensioner, water pump, oil pump, oil filter housing, pan, etc. if you're replacing them. If you're re-using your head, you will need to drill out the bolt holes since 6 bolts use larger bolts/studs.
